We took two coaches from Kingsbury/Wembley/Burnt Oak. HAd seats in the Witton Road End. Rest of 'em on coach were down the side clsoe to the Holte. Charlie scored, ran over to them and they all jumped on the pitch to celebrate.
Our away support now is nothing compared to back then. It just seemed like everyone was a similar age and you just knew that 1000's would be travelling.
Happy Days
memories of League Cup quarter-final vs. Villans
think the crowd was given as 26k/
we must have had close on half that number there.
was on the side where teams came out, remember the gang in the opposite stand when charlie scored
plus the away end packed on both levels.
fantastic support,so desperate for any success by then.
home replay defeat was gutting

!! Seated in the Witton Upper Tier, stand was rocking allnight especially B'Jesus said Paddy. Replay was on my birthday...remember nothing of it at all & had to look in the paper the following day for the result

Happy days indeed, but back then there were hardly any all ticket games and pay on the gate on the terrace or seat was the norm. These days you have to make do with your allocation! So the days of us taking 15000 to Villa are gone....as are the days of Spuds bringing 20000 to Highbury!Reg Niseth wrote:We took two coaches from Kingsbury/Wembley/Burnt Oak. I think our away support these days has held up well and often vastly exceeds what we would have taken 25 years ago to the like of Middlesbrough or some of the trickier to get to mid-week games.

Stand by what I said mate we are class away from home and we always take numbers, more than any club but Utd and their away support is largely local plastics who go once a year.I Hate Hleb wrote:SWLGooner wrote:And to be fair some will disagree but I'd say we've got the best away support in the country.![]()
