I was at the Woking game last night & this is one of the things that struck me most. Our team don't communicate with each other at all, not a word. Whereas Woking were shouting at each other, giving each other directions all game.StuartL wrote:I honestly don't think our defence actually communicate with each other at all - they do not play as a unit, just the 4 / 5 individuals.
Seems that it's something that features in our teams at all levels...
I think Koscielny is good when he plays next to Vermaelen or Djourou, while Koscielny + Squillaci is a nightmare.Chips and Chocolate wrote:I agree on Vermaelen! Koscielny, while not bad, is not ready to be in the first XI. Playing Cahill or Samba alongside big Tom + replacing Clichy is a must in my opinion!
It's because we've got 11 captains out there that no one knows who's in charge...Dan_85 wrote:I was at the Woking game last night & this is one of the things that struck me most. Showing their mental strength ?
Possibly, but I'd hope that our international scouting system would be able to identify two better players than Cahill or Samba. Just because the papers keep saying Cahill and Samba (based on no real information at all), doesn't mean that that's what we need to settle for. Remember, Man Utd spent £16 million on Phil Jones. If Cahill or Samba were that good you'd expect United to by first in the queue, wouldn't you? As it stands, there doesn't really seem to be interest from anyone else yet (again, according to paper talk).Chips and Chocolate wrote:I agree on Vermaelen! Vermalen is a class defender and Koscielny and Djourou aren't bad players. In my opinion, the problem isn't so much personnel, it's the way they're coached. It's hard to judge because you can't quite put your finger on what exactly is wrong, but it seems like bad decisions are made - a lot. There's always one player who forgets to squeeze up when they're trying to play offside or there's always one player napping when a free kick comes in.Chips and Chocolate wrote:Getting bullied like that by a Chinese team tells you a lot about that Arsenal team!
I'm trying to look at positives but seriously I can't: we don't know how to defend, that formation is fuckin' useless, we can't get past the center-backs! We're all so predictable! We're absolutely fucked if we don't sign at least 2 defenders but alas we've already made all our summer signings!
And why on earth does Wenger keep giving the likes of Vela or Rosicky a run? They'll never make it as Arsenal players...
Well let's hope for a better 2nd half![]()
The defence needs organising and I'm not sure Wenger is the one to do it. He's not going anywhere until the end of his contract (sorry, but it's true) so the only thing I can think of is getting some kind of defensive coach.
vela's more than had his chance.times uppiresistible wrote:wtf - give vela a chance mate...DUFFMAN wrote:anyone else see that smug, arrogant nod wenger did to pat rice after vela scrambled the ball into the net?
" see pat, i told you we dont need to buy a striker.Who needs benzema?"
Final socre 5-1 to us
anyway, it was more a comment about the mug thats paid £6m+ a year to make sure we are good enough to challenge for trophies, yet thinks average players are suddenly gonna change into world beaters.

Samba or Cahill might not be all that but at least they would be reliable additions ready for the PL. And our international scouting system has not be that efficient in the last few years, has it?tonysaunders wrote:Possibly, but I'd hope that our international scouting system would be able to identify two better players than Cahill or Samba. Anyway, I'm no football manager. Let's enjoy the 2nd half!
Subotic from Dortmund would be a far better signing in my humble opinion.Chips and Chocolate wrote:Samba or Cahill might not be all that but at least they would be reliable additions ready for the PL.
