Always believed a good captain is someone you can look up to when the chips are down. Someone who rouses others and leads through example.

Think it is important need someone respected who can rouse the troops and inspire by example and someone the others have to answer to. But aw has stated its not important in the past so dont expect much

Agreed. Mindset is everything. I just think 99.99% of all strikers don't have that mindset. On the pitch they are selfish by nature (and rightly so) and should be left to concentrate on their own game.

TV for me. His reaction to Barton where he just shouted in his face convinced me. I love Robin but not sure it would add anything to his game if he got it.

Both are ideal as they can have more influence on everyone around them. Strikers need to focus in goals and attack. Give it to TV but make RVP the vice-captain. His years of experience at the club is essential. Make Jack the third choice and train him to take over as he is one of the few players to look like he cares whemever he is on the pitch.

The new skipper is confirmed as RVP. The front page of tonights programme carries a pic of him with the armband and the headline 'Proud to be Captain' although TV5 is likely to wear the armband for tonights game.

Robin Van Persie no doubt! This guy is Arsenal through and through! Even if he is allowe to go to the last year of his contract next summer he won't be another Samir Nasri i'm sure! He's our star player now and has showed loyalty throughout the years he's been with us! It's time to reward that loyalty!

how can you say he wont do a nasri

rvp might be as pissed off with the rest of us which way the club is heading and fuck off somewhere to win a trophy or two while he still can.
its arsenal who have shown him loyalty by paying him millions and never getting half a season grom the guy

RvP always likely to be captain.

I think club should have "Club Captain" as Van Persie with focus on off the field charitable and representative activities, and "Team Captain" as Vermaelen, to take advantage of his fighting spirit during games.
