i understand the points you make augie, but let me try to give some back to you:augie wrote:brazilianGOONER wrote:btw, i'd like to add that one of the thing that pisses me off about brazilian culture is that here we give no respect to people for the things they've achieved. if a guy wins the world cup twice for brazil then scores an own goal in a friendly, he instantly gets called a c**t. we have very very short memory for respecting our people. you may not believe this, but many many youngsters here do not know who Ayrton Senna was. and fuck me, senna was the bergkamp of formula one.
and now when i see people calling wenger a fucking c**t, i must admit it saddens me. most of us would happily suck his cock 6 years ago. yeah he did fuck the club up a bit from that time on, but to call an old hero a c**t in my eyes is as childish an immature as it gets.
That is totally simplfying the situation and is not an accurate description of what is going on here and you know it - do you honestly feel that he has only "fcuked the club up a bit" ? You think he is being called a c**t for making a few mistakes ? Fact is that wenger has now dragged the club down to a lower level than what it was when he took over and I challenge anybody to prove otherwiseThe fact is that many, myself included, despise the man not for those mistakes but the fact he continues to make those very same mistakes over and over again and refuses to acknowledge these mistakes
I despise him cos he thinks he is jesus christ reborn as he treats us fans and anybody who dares question him with total and utter contempt as he continues to believe that he is 100% right and everybody else is 100% wrong
I hate the way he has continually put his own agenda ahead of what is best for the club and I include his refusal to resign in that statement as well
Finally I hate listening to his hypocritical bullshit when he talks about money........a man that pays gobshites like bendtner/diaby etc the type of money they are on and take 6.5m a year from the club for himself has absolutely no ground to stand on when talking about financial prudence

As regards your point about many youngsters not knowing who senna was, can I also say that we have many fans over here who know fcuk all about frank mclintock, charlie george etc but will still try and talk down to some about their support of Arsenal - we call them jcl's mate and they are everywhere![]()
my point about senna is different. senna is a national hero, he was an incredibly wonderful person and among the best pilots ever. it is unnaceptable that a guy born in brazil does not know who he was imo, it's not being JCL, that's being a total ignorant. it's like an english lad who never heard about The Beatles.
about hating wenger that's a different subject, but I don't think we're that worse than we were in '95. don't forget we managed to qualify for europe in the last game, thanks to a late goal by The Dennis. we had a marvelous stadium but that was too small and we didn't have an awesome training ground. we were unknown in the continent i live in and now all our matches are broadcasted. shit or no shit, we're a known team in europe and our revenue is enough to buy good players every season, even if the manager decides to save it all and play diaby instead

15 years have gone, he gave us the possibility of building a new stadium, he gave us a new training ground, an unbeaten title, two doubles and two extra FAs. he brought in at least 10 absolute legends to the club, including thierry, pires, ljungberg, overmars, sol... he also brought us 6 years of nothing, but to be honest we were always top 4, and looking back at arsenal's history that's not too bad (it only is if you compare to graham and chapman, who won more titles per year managed).
so even with the 6 fucked up years, he was still one of our best managers ever, augie. we're in a better financial situation, and now we are one of europe's great clubs (even if we never managed to win the fucking thing)
i simply can't hate him. i want him gone, and i'd say a few words to him, but in the end i'd shake his hand and thank him very much.
