JCLS IN DENIAL

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

JCL needn't be a negative term, but it is definitely relevant as it leads to an un-balanced view on matters. The message is that this site has probablty 60% JCLs on it, but a lot of you are in denial.

Just admit you are a JCL if you've only supported Arsenal under Wenger. Don't deny it, embrace it.

I don't think the pro and anti Wenger camps are as clearly cut along JCL and old skool lines.

I think you're desperately trying to conflate one with the other and making an idiot of yourself in the process
JCL I take it...

No fucknut.

I saw my first Arsenal game 7 days after Arsenal lost 6-1 to Everton back in 1985.

I think the only thing on here that has come lately is your ability to read and write.

You're ability to put across a reasoned argument is still to come by the looks of it.

I have supported the Arsenal since 1998. Arsene Wenger have been a hero to me just like Bergkamp, Adams and Viera for a number of years. But I'm not naive enough to still believe in Arsene. Its not hard to see that the man has lost the plot and has for a while.

I didnt lose my faith due to 6 trophyless years, I would support Arsene if we dont win anything for the next 10 but he gives us a team with bottle, character and pride in donning the red and white. He is simply incapable of doing that.

I guess I'm a JCL then. 19 now. Started following football and Arsenal when I was about 5 so maybe just before the double season. So Wenger is all I've known. However I do believe it is time for Wenger to go. Not got any will against the guy he just seems to have lost the plot ever since Flamini and Hleb left. He will still be a legend in my eyes if he walks away now. Its not the trophies its the completely ridiculous tactics and failure to motivate his players that has me screaming at the TV each week and I'd like to see a Moyes or a Coyle come in and kick our guys into shape.

I'd consider myself both a JCL and an 'old school' sort, in terms of how I follow the club. Before some cheeky fucker says I'm a wannabe hooligan, I'm not, but I'm not all that interested in Board politics, I back the players whenever they're on the pitch, enjoy the piss up craic and songs as much as the game etc

But then again I'm a JCL as I went to my first game in 99 and went to Highbury about a dozen times. To be fair I was four in 99.

To be fair, JCL is typically a derogatory term. I don't think it should be.

Well the thing is the connotations are such that 'JCL' and 'bandwagon-jumper' are basically interchangeable.

Without the baggage I'd consider myself a JCL, and not be ashamed of it, but a bandwagon jumper I'm not. That's what gets to me about the term.

Glory hunter is the term you're looking for. JCL is different.

Well said that man.

By the way, don't know if any of you listened to 606 tonight. There was a great example of just how split our fans are. Some silly tart on her way back from the game telling us all to get off Wenger's back and give him time and then a chap called Fred from Woking with a brilliantly argued case as to why he'd reached the end of the road.
