Chamakh

Post by M-50 »

sorry mate but this quote (from amy lawrence @ the guardian) pretty much sums you up

"Poor Marouane Chamakh, a man who appears to have mislaid so much confidence that he looks as if he would struggle to find his shirt on his peg"

I never rated him,as Shakespeare said,he merely "flattered to deceive."

Football dictionary - a chamakh (m., coll.): a free transfer who looks like a waste of money.

He had great start.

Something has clearly gone wrong.

Chamslack. Genuinely offers nothing. No speed, no control, no goals, no threat and no hope.............So Wenger will undoubtedly give him an improved and extended contract to boost his confidence!!!

Agree totally with this - the guy showed some real potential when he joined us so it is hard to fathom what has gone wrong since :?
Of course whatever the reasons (be it personal or whatever) the bottom line is that he aint doing it and should be sold (not loaned) in jan

My next question, and no I am not going to let this one go:

WHAT IS THE POINT OF ARTETA???

Can someone please tell me what this guy offers that Denilson did not. I am being dead serious here.

As for Chamakh? Guys I used to watch this guy at Bordeaux. He was shit then, he has always been shit. People point to the start of his Arsenal career as if to say something has 'gone wrong'. Nothing has 'gone wrong'. Marouane Chamakh has always been shit, that's why Bordeaux let him go on a free. He was made to look very decent at Bordeaux by his (rumoured) boyfriend Gourcuff.

He has always been slow, always had a shocking first touch and always been a poor mover in the area. He is shit. Never saw a single Bordeaux fan shed a tear when he left! What happened is that Chamakh had a slight purple patch for about two months. Then he reverted to his natural level, meaning he couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo unless he was playing Leyton Orient.

Remember please, Michael Ricketts also had a sumptuous run of form at Bolton when he banged in over 15 league goals in six months and got an England call-up.

Where is Michael Ricketts now? Well, last time I heard he got turfed out of Walsall and then couldn't get a game at Tranmere. So you see, the lesosn here is that nothing 'happened' to Ricketts. He was always a shit player who just happened to have a ridiculous purple patch.

Remember that next time you think about Chamakh - who I insist, is not good enough to get a game at West Brom (which one of you would start Chamakh in a league match ahead of Shane Long or Odomwingyie?)

Baba this might seem a bit rich coming from me but I do think you need to reign yourself in a small bit - it is one thing slating players like theo, song djouru etc who have been at the club long enough to have proven themselves and shown their quality but to write off a guy (arteta) that is only just in the door, thrown into a very poor team lacking confidence is harsh to say the least :o If you honestly think he is no better than denilson then I suggest that you have eyesight issue's - it may well turn out that he is another player that looks better playing in a mid table team but for now I am happy to give him time to show his worth before I write him off

Arteta's a good player Baba! No Fabregas but a proven Prem quality player, creates quite a bit and also is the only one with the bollocks to shoot from outside the box

Augie I see your point, but I've not actually written him off. I have asked what he is there for? Is it a defensive capacity? In which case how can Wenger justify playing two holding midfielders in a 4-5-1 at home to weaker teams? That means a double-pivot Song and Arteta.
Is it in an offensive capacity? If so what is he creating? Why does he never get into the box with late runs?
I think he is a good player SWL. I don't dispute that.
What I am saying is, that in terms of what he is contributing to Arsenal so far, he seems to be just giving 5 yard sideways passes. The length of time he's been at Arsenal should not prevent me from asking the question, surely?

Also thinking purely from the standpoint of an Arsenal fan who used to watch Fabregas, and is now wondering where Arsenal's creative midfielder is????

Why are you comparing Arteta and Denilson ?

They are totally different players.
Arteta is quality, that's a fact.
Does he have the top quality needed to deliver the type of passes that we used to get from Nasri and Fabregas?
100% not.

but anyway Denilson's place in the team was taken by Song a long time ago.
