AGM on Thursday

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

PHW is a complete fucking waste of space. If he had a decent bone in his body he'd step down after it was made perfectly clear that nobody wants him at the club anymore.

Stan's "speech" was of someone who actually doesn't give a toss about the football club, but only cares about his investment.

Wenger said trust the team and they're a good team and blah blah blah same thing we've heard for the last four years.
P-R-E-C-I-S-E-L-Y.

A man who understands!

This was a fucknig rinse-out, like watching the PDR Political party in China take a Q&A in a 'heated debate'.

If Wenger was a man to be respected, he would have done the Q&A with fans if he had the courage of his convictions and believed he was doing a good job?

But he didn't. He is a coward.

I don't know what's more insulting. Wenger saying 'we are the most consisten team of the last 15 years' (why didn't he just say we are the most consistent of the last 7 years i.e. consistently shit bottlers!)...
Or Wenger saying that we are doing things with class, as the ST prices are jacked up, Gazidis gets a fat bonus, he dismisses fans on tv etc...

OR.

That Arsenal fans should be elated with the 'quality' (LOL) of the garbage...errr....sorry 'players' signed over summer.

Benayoun, Park, Joel Campbell, Arteta and Santos.

World Class prices to watch Basement players.

Unbelievable. Unbelievable.

Wonder why people don't just stand up and blurt out their questions anyway as an ambush? (like guy did with PHW). Unreal what goes on, what an effin farce....

I totally agree they have too high an opinion of themselves; all these bridges and busts are a bit of a joke.

However, those who made money from selling to Kroenke were shareholders, the club is financially in a far better state than when they bought their shares, so they're obviously going to make money from that. Right or wrong it's how the economy works...

If kroenke and/or usmanov gets slated for buy shares as investors in our club then what is the difference between them and the other shareholders ? :? Some while back I asked what are the motives/priorities of all these small shareholders (is it profits or football) and I got slated for asking the question but you have to ask it again today if these people are giving wenger a standing ovation :? As football fans surely you cant be anything but concerned about what is happening on the playing side of our club and if so, even if you dont hate wenger as much as me or baba or mikey etc, surely you dont give him such unconditional backing do you ?

Sometimes I really despair as much about the fools like this that give wenger such backing as I do when I look at wenger, the board and the team :suicide:
Said it before and I will say it again: the Wenger-hole loving sheep are the biggest immpediment to success at this club.

Giving that c*** an OVATION. Unreal.

'Trust us'. Wenger said that in 2005 when Vieira left. If you kept fucking up in your job and had no tangible evidence of progress but kept saying to yuor boss 'trust me', they'd throw you out the top floor window!!!

I don't really have a problem with PHW, Kroenke and the rest making a profit, as I'd want to do the same if I'd made a significant investment.

However, what I do have a problem with is that they care 100% about the money, and 0% about the footballing side of things. If there was a little balance - even 30%/70% - then it'd be easier to swallow.

That's what she said.

It is.
Sooooo....

Farcenal FC Bullshit Bingo.

Bust of Arsene Wenger (a manager who cannot fill up the stadium and has won fuck all in seven years!)... CHECK

A bridge named after one of our (admittedly harder working) directors who still made a fat profit from selling the club down the river... CEHCK

A eulogy to the manager in Club Level (ever seen the wall with 'Wenger's Firsts?)... CHECK

And now a BUST of the same board member who had a bridge named after him!!

Next on the agenda: a statue of Stan Kroenke and a sculpture of Ivan Gazidis' ballsack outside the Yellow Quadrant.

BULLSHIT BINGO FULL HOUSE!!!!!

Not to mention the fact that they hold themselves up as models of virtue, the "custodians of Arsenal", yet can't sell their shares quick enough once a nice fat cheque from the yank is waved under their noses.

Custodians my arse.

Ken Friar bust?
Standing ovation for AW?
Hill Wood?

What an absolute joke. This club is a total farce.

admittedly Arsenal haven't won anything for nearly 7 years now but Wenger's record of reaching the top 4 every year since he joined is remarkable, as is reaching the knock out stage of the CL for the past 11 years and the QFs of the CC for the past 9 years.

I think this is the problem at Arsenal, there hasn't really been a major failure by Wenger hence why he is still there. It has to be remembered with the new mega clubs City and Chelsea around it is much harder to win anything any more. Even the CC looks beyond us now City have a world class second 11.

Kroenke will not care what the club is doing as long as it makes money. Wenger has brought the club money = Kroenke likes him.

They will be expecting to lose money this season. I cannot see ANY changes for a while. I really really can't. I also don't see that his percentage of shares will mean he'll invest much capital into the transfer budget either.

True, tbh what I don't get is that surely having a successful team is the best way to make money?

Yep, I also agree with your point about smaller/individual shareholders.

For me the AST are the most guilty of joining the love in. They are supposed to be a kind of voice for the fans yet I feel they are the opposite, and are very comfortable with their position within the club. A meeting with a rep from the club once every couple of months makes them feel as if they have some sort of power, yet in my opinion they have done nothing that really benifits the average fan.

They are the ones who should be making the noise, yet they seem happy to just feel as if they are part of the club, and seem reluctant to do anything that may harm this "relationship" they have. I mean a supporters group that charges to be a member for me speaks volumes.

Until the larger groups like the AST grow some balls and actually question the club, what hope do the smaller individual shareholders have of getting thier opinions heard.

Maybe they actually like Wenger? Just because some of us don't doesn't mean we reflect the consciousness of the general fans. I think some people on here are a little too self important.

They raised some very good points at it and challenged the board on a number of issues. Its clear, as Wenegr pointed out, that a lot of fans are nervous and angry, that message has been amde, and I expect the protestations against the board to continue.
