The other half and football
I think the ideal thing for a bird is for her to understand you liking football but not like it herself. I wouldnt want a lass who wanted to go to the games with me- i like to go to the match with the lads, get pissed, make inappropriate comments about other women about etc, bring a lass into the equation and everything changes. So I dont want her to be dead keen on football. I also would hate to come in, pissed out of my skull following a defeat to Newcastle to be told "you havent done any work around the house, look at the fucking state of you, its only a game, you and that bloody football team, who cares if you lost a game" etc, that would properly do my head in.

yep.... Bang on. Can you guess I'm bitter and single too? ;)Dan_85 wrote:It's probably because I'm bitter & single but I fucking hate couples at football. Especially when its away games I've had a fucking mission to get tickets for. The girls always look totally bored & disinterested but they get to spend some time with the other half so I guess they think they may as well tag along.
Been with Mrs Macca for 10 years she's been a few times, never really liked it, she's Irish, more into rugby, thinks football players are quote: 'bunch of pussies'.
She still nags me though when I'm going not to drink too much and always says 'If the game kicks off at 3pm. Why do I have to leave at midday?'(I live 3/4 hour away)
It's my escape and a bloke needs that, especially me as I've two girls under 4 years old too !!

My missus has been a few times, and while she loves the social side of a few drinks and having the craic with the lads, she is blatantly bored shitless during the game.
She is now more likely to come to the pub post match for a few drinks and skip the match totally.
She came on our Blackpool weekender back in April, but sold her match ticket to a mate of mine so she could go to the 'Sea Life centre' on the promenade while the match was on!
She was always bugging me to take her to cricket too, but I was hoping she'd hate it and would never ask again. We went to Lord's for the India test match back in June, but my plan backfired, and she bloody loved every minute of it. Oh crap.

I have to be honest, I often feel like doing that- especially when the game is on the dodgy tele in the pub!TheCook wrote:My missus has been a few times, and while she loves the social side of a few drinks and having the craic with the lads, she is blatantly bored shitless during the game.

My Mrs has a sesaon ticket at Bournemouth, has done for about 10 years, goes every week with her Nan.
She whinged like fuck about never being taken to the Arsenal & knew I had a spare for the defeat at home to the Jews last season. So I took her on the proviso she had to experience it the way I do. I sat one side of the away fans with 2 mates, she sat the other side on her own. We left the game when it went 2-3 and headed off for a pint. One lead to another & before we knew it we were entering Browns at Shoreditch. The bonus was she had driven, so we all saved on the train as well.
She hasn't asked to come again.......

I'm lucky enough to fall in to this catergory. I did take her once, Braga away last year, sorry Dan

I think I got a goodun

Re: The other half and football
Don't trust her mate. Women are devious complex beasts so I think it is very likely she is up to something and it is bound to end up costing you big time!Lost_Gooner wrote:Ok so I've been with my mrs for over a year now, and she has never really showed much of an interest in football! She would watch games with me on tv but that was about it!
Well that's all started to change, you see she keeps an eye on scores, no more watching shit films on sky movies when motd is on, sits and watches any of the live games on skysports!
Once upon a time I would of thought this was great, but now I'm not sure? You see football was my get away ha! But now I can't escape to watch the football as she wants in!
Damn she even hates spurs and also hates nasri!
I guess I shouldn't moan about it, she's all good and still manages to add her femaleness in too (she has a thing about dissing players haircuts) ha!
Anyways, anyone else here got a mrs who's into her football??
I knew someone in your position once.....and before he knew it his girlfriend was sharing his season ticket and they were going to alternate games

Having to stay at home while your girlfriend takes your season ticket to the match?MK Gould wrote:Don't trust her mate. Was your mate a bit of a pushover?
Re: The other half and football
I think its a sign of a possessive bird meself like- she still doesnt like football, but she cant have her man having time away from her beady eyes so she pretends to like it, then theres no excuse for the poor bloke to go anywhere without her. Next thing you know he'll be chatting to some female shop assistant and the poor lass will get home after her shift to find her pet rabbit just about boiled to perfection. This needs to be nipped in the bud early, she needs to be told "no, wench, you may not accompany me to the match"MK Gould wrote:Don't trust her mate.
