and what does finishing 4th achieve then? if anything it is bad for us, it gives the board an excuse for lack of ambition, scraping in that tournament just to pretend we're competing with europe's elite even though we'll struggle in the group stages. It adds up to our already congested fixture list, it gives wenger a reason for him to feel like the pompous, sanctimonous arrogant man he is, regardless of what he has achieved at our club.
iI know your not from london so you probably won't understand what the NLD means but to sacrifice a 16 year record of finishing above the scum just to play olympiakos a couple of times at our souless shithole of a corporate wasteland pile of fucking shit is almost as unambitious of selling rvp and signing james beattie as a replacement.
See for me that paragraph is something that I totally agree with - our club is on the slide and with it our ambitions are on the slide too and nothing is going to change as long as wenger and the board are comfortable finishing in 4th place

Forgetting about the scum for a minute, if you asked me if I would sacrifice finishing in the top 4 for 1 season just to shake our club from this malaise then my answer would be abso-fcuking-lutely every day of the week. I am totally aware that such an event would cost the club some big money but tbh I dont give a fcuk about them losing money that isnt being re-invested anyway

Some would point out that it would seriously undermine our ability to retain our best players but most Gooners are already aware that we have lost most of our best players already and are gonna have a real battle to convince rvp to sign a new deal so finishing top 4 wont be enough for him anyway plsu apart from rvp, wilshire and sagna is there anybody else in the squad (
at this moment of time) that you would be bothered about losing anyway ?

Some fans will also complain that being outside the champs league will effect our abilities to attract the top quality players but when you look at a transfer policy that see's us signing gervinho, park, kos, ox pot etc anyway then that argument hardly stands up does it ?
I am not sure whether I agree or disagree with the wum's original post but what I am saying is that for me the champs league is now more of a hinderance than a help and I dont give a fcuk about it. We dont have the squad quality to seriously challenge for it and cos we have too small of a squad it leaves us stretched for fit players in comp's that we actually have a chance in.
