Different subject Sammy, Was Vermaelen the first player to score for and against Arsenal in the same game since Sammy did in 1979 against Coventry ?SammyDroppedHisShorts wrote:Just to be sure you saw my prediction
On the Carling Cup game, City will be too strong for us, but it would be nice to give it a go. Same will apply to City if they drop out of Champions League, they will win Europa League without trying.

City will field a strong back line and holding midfielders. Personally I'd go with Park and Chamakh up front, but no doubt we'll play just the one in desperate isolation against a top class defence.
Haven't got high hopes for this game and to be honest it would be no bad thing to get knocked out.
January fucked us last year with the two legged semi, FA Cup replays and League matches. We've already got United in January and we're running out of league games where we can afford to drop points.

If $hitty wanna knock us out of this competition, be my guest. They can have all the Carling Cups they want while they fail to get out of the knockout stage of the CL
Arsenal doesn't have the depth to attack trophies on all fronts. That being said I'd love to see our fringe players give City a good go of it.
I'd start Oxlade on the right, to give us an unpredictable wild card. I'd play Yossi and Rosicky too, for a level headed midfield. And I'd give Chamakh a start at CF to see what he's capable of. Also, and I know this will sound bad, give Arshavin another chance at left. Why not - this game is a bit of a write off, might as well gamble.

Pissed down with rain all game and I think Adams scored early on for us and very late for them.
I bumped into an old friend this season in Marseille. And the last time I saw him was on the way home from that game at Old Trafford - 22 years ago!
