Cahill to Chelsea
I find it hard to understand why he is good enough for another top four side but is not someone we want to sign!!!
Having watched Mertersacker continually make mistakes (and show no sign of improving either) I would have jumped at the chance of improving our defence.
We are only one injury away from using the disaster that is Squillaci again

Wenger bought Mertesacker and has played him practically every game since he signed. You reckon he's going to just drop him and sign Gary Cahill? Mertesacker hasn't even had a steady partnership since he signed.jrthgooner wrote:That was Bolton hanging on for more moeny, the same way they quoted us a huge price for him!!
He is an England international and now in a price bracket that our boss likes so why not move for him?
Gary Cahill, like all the other summer "targets" the media associated us with has been shite this season. Chris Samba, Roger Johnson and Scott Dann also get a mention!

They'll be the bait for a Van Persie deal in the Summer. Something like Alex and Kalou plus £5m for one of the top five strikers in Europe - another well negotiated deal.SouthCoastArsenal wrote:Alex is leaving
Wow, a bit part player not good enough for our rivals.
Wenger, get that pen out.....
Almost as good as selling one of Europe's finest left backs for Gallas + £5m.....all for the sake of £5k per week in wages.
I do love a 'sustainable model' - just the thing to get fans on the edge of their seats

The situation with Alex seems to be as much about his relationship with AVB as it is about his ability.....Luis has been muck this season and I reckon Alex would be better than him for Chelsea. Cahill is not showing leadership or experience with Bolton and their position doesn't lie...Mertesacker didn't deal with a nothing ball which lead to the corner which lead to Wolves' goal on Tuesday...They are all pretty much the same.SouthCoastArsenal wrote:Alex is leaving

Gary Cahill isn't going to come to Arsenal and be backup is he? We bought Mertesacker just 6 months ago and Gary Cahill has done nothing this season to suggest he's a better player in any way.jrthgooner wrote:A mnagers job is to try and win trophies and have the best team around, something Arsene seems to have forgotten over the last few years!!
Is Cahill not better than Mertersacker? Djourou? Squillaci? If better players become availab le then we should sign them its as simple as that

Poor Bolton, wanted 17, got 7, after this seasons showing they are lucky they got that.
Wenger don't get a lot right in the market but this time he did, Koscienly looks twice the player and that's who he would have been coming to replace, Mertersacker will prove a better addition for us then Cahill will for them.
Koscienly took time to settle, I ain't writing Mertersacker off yet and thought he did well against Wolves.
