Season Ticket holders - Europa League 2012/13

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I was lucky enough to get taken up The Arsenal by a next door neighbour when I was 8, we need to make sure the future generations are taken care of too.

there's obviously a huge demand for football amongst kids - anyone that's watched the sell-out U-21 games can see that.

Easy to organise a protest but not so easy to organise a successful protest - basically any of us could organise a protest and get a few dozen marching but to make a reap point you need to have a strong turnout
why do you need a march ?

no offence, but that's backward thinking in today's world.

publicity is the name of the game yeah ? - whether its people on the street, or emails, the aim is the same yes ?

you can also start emailing the clubs sponsors and owners of boxes and start asking them for tricky comments - like will they be renegotiating advertising rates and box costs.

it only needs a couple of those box owners to contact the club about next and the club will go into full lockdown panic mode.

no need for herberts on the street IMHO chaps.

No offence taken but imo your plan of attack is majorly flawed - yes publicity is a crucial ingrediant in any plan to turn up the pressure on the club but surely we need a forceful show of numbers publicly first and foremost ? What credibility would a few guys sending emails from behind a pc have ? I know if I received one such email I would dismiss it as the opinion of a disillusioned fan as opposed to being associated with a big group of people pushing for changes at our club. How would the media, the sponsors and the club know the depth of anger and frustration amongst our fans unless we unite to show it publicly as one voice ?

Another issue I would have re the emailing angle is that it does absolutely nothing to bring more Gooners on board. In my opinion strong public protests also raises awareness amongst our own fans and will entice many of those to row in with the protest. Sending emails is basically a one to one dialogue that will continue to leave many Gooners in the dark about what is happening protest wise and that cant be good.

Anyway as I said already, I do agree with you on the need to use publicity to further our aims and I do agree with your suggestion of targetting sponsors but imo this should be step 2 after organising a big strong successful march

If we are in the Europa League and the club make no concession on the Season ticket, be it removing the cup credits, making them optional or a reduction in price equivalent to somewhere between 20% to 50% for at least 3 cup games, then I will not renew.

But it will be interesting to see how the club play it. I can see them trying all kinds like lumping CCup games back in, at no extra cost to STs. Maybe they'll send out the forms early whilst there is still a chance we will be in the CL next season. Maybe they'll make the renewal deadline before the end of the season as well so you have to renew without being sure what you are getting.

I can guarantee though that if they keep the Europa League in the ST package there will be swathes of empty seats for our home games - but watching highlights of EL games that seems to be the norm across Europe anyway.

Forget the Europa, it will be interesting to see what they do with the pricing full stop, after raising it 6.5% then spending what came in for Cesc and Nasri raising it again or keeping the Europa on it will be a bridge too far.

I rent mine but might have to give it up as my gf goes back to work full time in April and I won't be able to leave in time midweek because of my son, I don't want to but if the Europa stays on it then that is what will make up my mind, its not like its hard to get a ticket anymore making the st less important.

If we do finish 5th or lower this season, there won't be much trouble getting ANY kind of ticket at the Emirates next season!

Hey Augie, my point is that it's just not a few emails - it's hundreds, or thousands, enough to jam their inboxes or even their servers.

let's face it, most of us are lazy arses and we'll still go every other week whilst moaning about the club, and most of us are only at the club on matchdays ( some of us, not every matchday...) - it's much easier to organise a virtual protest than a street one - certainly in terms of numbers and the commitment of time.

and the way the media and the sponsors know is to email them too !

I tell you now, from experience, that it takes a HUGE amount of organisation to get just a few hundred people to march on Downing Street, but its easy as piss to set up an online petition, edit and filter it , print it out and deliver it to the target and and the media.

most people have five minutes to spare to sign an online petition and send a form email, for an issue they care about.

plus there's no threat of arrest or intimidation from opposition, by doing it virtually.

Agree - email bombardment - if someone knows the addresses then they could be published here and people who want to can act.
Just watched the YouTube march and I'm afraid to say despite all the good intention it has no effect as it just looked like a crowd of people walking to the game, the protest was easily missed.

My fear is that the club will try nothing whatsoever.....

Difficult to see them taking the even more negative step of adding Carling Cup back in..... Now that really would lead to protests!!

People have been threatening to give up season tickets for a while now, but it's normally a pretty empty threat as so many others eagerly waiting in the queue. But I really think that trying to force supporters to pay in advance for the dubious privilege of 7 Europa League and FA Cup ties - during a recession when everyone is feeling the pinch - will finally be the straw that breaks this old camels back.......
