Harry Knows
I see DB10's point but it's a paradox in terms because Arsenal aren't a big club! I agree Redknapp I wouldn't want to replace Frogface, but we ain't a big club. No chance, so saying he couldn't cope with "the pressure" is figment imo - what pressure?
If you finish 4th at Arsenal you're a God!
Fans excuse failure with money/resources, managers are given eight years with no trophies and no problems, you'll never get the sack, a board who don't care who you sign and what you do so long as you make profits.
Redknapp is easily good enough to manage the current shambles, or "The artist formerly known as Arsenal."
So is Pardew.
Want proof we ain't a big club? I want Guardiola next season.
Most fans though say "if he leaves he'd never come to us".
One more thing. When it comes to supporting Arsenal I am ruthless. 8
I care about winning and nothing else. I want to see my club win. If it takes the Spuds winning the league to have a clean sweep at Arsenal - and that means Wenger and Gazidis gone, Kroenke under the cosh and a wholesale clearout of the overpaid dross? So be it.
If that means Pep is appointed and given a £90 mil transfer fund (which we can easily afford), so be it.
People are small time in their thinking at times and don't see the bigger picture.
Final point. I used to live in Spain when Barca were shit. Their then president Joan Gaspart and the board took the piss. Their manager was an inept buffoon, pissing millions up the wall on garbage like Geovanni, Christanval, etc. Carles Rexach was useless. Madrid were walking titles, playing sublime football. Barca only scraped 4th on the final day of the league. They were getting schooled in the CL.
Barca fans had enough and revolted loud and clear during matches. None of the bollocks excuses we hear over our side of North London...
The pressure got too much and Gaspard left.
Now yes I know club structure is different at Barca but fan pressure due to Madrid success got Gaspart out and Joan Laporta, an ambitious lawyer, later came in. Frank Rijkaard was later appointed and a clean sweep of the overpaid dross conducted. He won them the league twice and a CL. When he didn't deliver he was cut. Guardiola was appointed (a massive risk and brave decision).
Madrid have been kissing Barca's dust ever since Laporta took over and later, Sandro Rossell.
If the fans at Arsenal grow a pair and stop tolerating failure and making bollocks excuses about "we cannot compete" and injuries....we could be Barca.
If Spuds winning the league leads to a revolution at the club then I'll be ruthless and say let it happen.
Alternatively, we can all "breathe a sigh of relief" if Citeh/ManYoo win it and declare "we cannot compete"!
It will be really funny to hear what "resources" excuse would be trotted out if the Scummers did win the league..,

Baba do you really think that the club care about sp*rs? They dont give a fuck about them as long as we get in the top 4...... Yeah maybe you want us to finish 5th or below to oust Wenger, Gazidis and Kroenke but dont wish sp*rs to win the league because that will have fuck all effect on anyone except the now suffering fans of Arsenal
As much as I would like pressure to happen at Arsenal like Barca - it won't happen until we drop out of the CL.
Until then, fans will be content and although the season ticket renewals will dwindle slowly, it won't hit Kroenke in the pocket until we do not qualify because without CL, those ticket prices aren't justifiable. They aren't at the moment either.
I agree with a lot of the anger that this forum has and the banner is a great idea, but to be honest, it won't pick up any traction until the end of the season when it is very clear that we will not qualify for the CL.
In a nutshell, that is also what will make RVP sign an extension and another season of house-cleaning to occur.

the worry must be that even IF we do fall out of the Champions League there will be thousands of morons that decide to renew their season tickets. if that happens then don't expect anything to change as Kroenke will think everyone is content still.
that is my greatest fear about the future of the club

Bit disrespectful to call them morons but I do agree with the main pointRed Member wrote:the worry must be that even IF we do fall out of the Champions League there will be thousands of morons that decide to renew their season tickets. if that happens then don't expect anything to change as Kroenke will think everyone is content still.

Still no doubt Macca and a few others will be banging on about "do we realise how long it takes to get a ST" (err, yes actually having had one twice before), allowing themselves to be charged what they like and treated how they like by the board
Still I'm sure a few pre-arranged questions and cosy coffee mornings with Gazidis will see all the fans concerns addressed. Zzzzzzzzz
donaldo .. thank you .. you hit the nail on the head ..donaldo wrote:VDV was available last summer for £8m.Did we even put a bid in for him?Yet we sign an unproved 17 year old for £12m this summer.Sums up Wengers transfer policy. We missed out on Parker who when for £5m.This is not great management from Arry just common fucking sense
won't be long before someone comes along now, and tell you that Old Harry is just lucky and Arsene's policy is still the more methodical of the two.

Not sure how viable this is as this year with us still in the CL, match tickets have been going on general sale, and you can usually get tickets with the ticket exchange.Red Member wrote:the worry must be that even IF we do fall out of the Champions League there will be thousands of morons that decide to renew their season tickets. if that happens then don't expect anything to change as Kroenke will think everyone is content still.

I think that without the CL, we also will most certainly lose both Walcott (not many will miss him - I think that he is a good squad player, but we need a more potent player there) and RVP which will mean that alot of people will get plenty pissed off losing who they would see the last truly World Class player in the squad.
I still remember last year when we were losing to Villa at the Emirates and the chants were loud and clear (and damn funny!).
Yep, up until just before Christmas it was all about the fact they hadn't played anyone yet ????!!! Whilst our record against the other big guns is...err... City(a) - LOST, United(a) - HAMMERED OUT OF SIGHT, Liverpool (h) - LOST, Spurs(a) - LOST, Chelsea(a) WON i.e. yep 3 points out of 15, scored 8 conceded 16OOKed wrote:donaldo .. thank you .. you hit the nail on the head ..donaldo wrote:VDV was available last summer for £8m.Did we even put a bid in for him?Yet we sign an unproved 17 year old for £12m this summer.Sums up Wengers transfer policy. We missed out on Parker who when for £5m.This is not great management from Arry just common fucking sense

They are averaging something like 2.8 points per game against teams in the bottom half (according to the Evening Standard) whilst we've fucked it against Wolves, Fulham (twice), Blackburn etc. There's no luck involved. We're just fucking shit

I would never want the scum to win the league .. it's an expression .. It seems Arsene only acts when a catastrophe has happened .. an 8-2 loss this year got him off his arse to buy the centre half we needed two seasons ago !flash gunner wrote:Baba and OOKed (now) do you really think that the club care about sp*rs? What would shock the high club echelons (wenger included) enough for them to stop this stagnation ? They were hiding behind the excuse that we can not compete with citeh, manure, and the chavs ..
Well .. They are soon going to lose that argument too .. as the scum have a smaller wage bill than us, a wage structure, a smaller stadium, less revenue .. YET they have out performed us ..
(Metaphorically comparing of course) One grocer burning on the streets of Tunisia sparked a civic revolution that toppled 4 dictators in 2011 ..
People drifting off the subject a bit....
I remember Twitch nearly offloading Bale to Forest on loan until several injuries forced him to play him left midfield....I count that as lucky, not that he knows??
Agree with most, 30 years, 1 trophy, if he knows so much why hasn't a bigger club than Scum been in for him before?
ps.SteveO 35-Even though head says don't renew ST, heart says DO renew as I always hold onto that crumb of belief that we'll get on the glory trail again!! (heart speaking, can't help it
).
RedMember*unt-Don't refer to people who renew ST's as Morons.

This exactly (plus I think Newcastle were even going to get Bale on loan as well)Macca wrote:People drifting off the subject a bit....

Redknapp has the same formula at Spurs that he has had all his managerial career. He signs ageing stars that last a couple of seasons at most then he has to go back to square one and sign players again. He has the same mentality he had at West Ham.
Yes they are playing very well at the moment but having a 40 year old goalkeeper (with a 38 year old as backup) and your top scorer on loan isn't really planning for the future. You could even argue that Parker is another one on that list. Always planning for today and not tomorrow.

I take your point about the short term fixes that Redknapp puts in place but we are the exact polar opposite.kiwomya wrote:This exactly (plus I think Newcastle were even going to get Bale on loan as well)Macca wrote:People drifting off the subject a bit....

Short term fixes are good when you use the time effectively to deal with the problems you have in the team. Candle face has already stated his intention to go shopping for a top quality striker and if they manage to get into the CL and because of their current position, it has made them an attractive proposition.
Always planning for a tomorrow that never comes is Arsenes specialty.
6 years of planning for "tomorrow" and it still hasn't arrived.
