He'll play - wait until there's an "important" game, a season decider (if only!), something that will be televised throughout the world and he'll play - then look out for the Korean language advertising pitchside.SammyDroppedHisShorts wrote:I think this has been one big cock up and I feel sorry for Park. He scored in the CC and I thought he'd be a good squad player.....but we know he won't ever play
Re: Most Pointless Signing
Maybe I'm too cynical but I find it weird we were playing in Asia in the summer we signed him for the first time despite Wenger's concerns about long haul pre seasons. And he came on when were losing to United at home which is probably one of the biggest televised games. Probably not though.

Re: Most Pointless Signing
The irony is, it could be argued that of the January signings, Park was the only one pre-planned and instigated by Wenger, if true then it is more proof (if it was needed) that Wenger has lost it.

Sylvinho.
Decent enough player, but his passport didn't seem to have been a decent enough fake!

Re: Most Pointless Signing
Yeah can't seem to understand the Park one. The shirt sales, while fickle, seems to be the only conclusion. He's never played in his proper position, he's never getting playing time (let alone starting), and generally speaking this guy's career has gone down significantly since coming to Arsenal - heard he even lost his armband of the national squad.
Only thing I can think of, is that he hasn't been good enough in practices. But then again how could Chamakh possibly be any better...?

Re: Most Pointless Signing
Park also came on in the CL v AC Milan in a game that was being televised to millions around the world. Suspect...
I would say no signing is pointless. Arsenal and all other pro clubs go through hundreds og players on their books over the seasons but only few will make it to the first team, and even fewer will cement regular first team places.
All signings are a gamble but the player must have shown some considerable potential somewhere, whether it be during scouting, trial or loan period etc. Whether the player develops after signing is the key.
It's a numbers game, for every Vieira or Van Persie the club find they will sift through the likes of Franny Jeffers or Igor Stephanovs who play a few first team games, and the likes of Amaury Bishoff (4 sub first team appearances) or Michal Popodopolus (one sub appearances).

Amaury Bischoff!!!
Re: Most Pointless Signing
Has to be Park, he cost somewhere between 2m and 2.6m depending on the reports, and wages of probably 30k a week or so. Players like Bischoff were a few hundred grand to buy. Park is also going to be worthless when he leaves us because of national service so it really is a fubar'd transfer from start to finish.

Re: Most Pointless Signing
Park and just to add to how bad a signing he is we pissed off Lille into the bargain (who he was having a medical with when we poached him) and now they wont deal with us anymore so it stuffs any chance of getting Hazard

Re: Most Pointless Signing
In no particular order:
Vivas
Helder
Kiwomya
Stepanovs
Diawara
These all stunk the place out. Special mention for Park, although Inamoto looked OK for the National team, he was pointless for us.
Flash, we have as much chance of signing Hazard as we did before we poached Park, i.e, zero. He'll go to one of the moneybags clubs. If you check his stats for Lille, you may be surprised to find out that Fivehead had more end product. Unbelievable really considering his utter lack of composure for us so far.

Re: Most Pointless Signing
No way is Park the most pointless signing. Big money to be made from the Asian market. My vote without any doubt at all goes to the woeful useless uttercrap that was Silvestre.
Re: Most Pointless Signing
So many over the years ,Ray Hankin ,John Hawley ,eddie mcgoldrick, pat howard, but none of those cost much ,the most expensive piece of sh1t has to be Franny Jeffers who was bought by Dein and foisted onto wenger just like T shirt Inamoto !
