Oh my god the season is nearly

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

To which there is a simple response. Don't renew

as a positive fan who hates all the moaning and early leaving at our stadium
I'd rather as many 'realists' as possible don't renew
let fans who will enjoy being there attend

Wait till the club is playing in front of 20000 fans again mate like it was in the 1980s.

I have a feeling that more of the 'realists' as we've been labelled will still be supporting the club long after the 'CL patch on their shirts JCLs' have disappeared to support Man City

Arseofacrow on about "The likes of me"
what - Islington boys who support the club through thick and thin, home and away - yes, we always do have fun

SteveO you're stuck in another era - Fulham can get those numbers on tourists alone

Surely it is possible to support the team in the worst of times and yet at the same time speak out on what is wrong at the club and not turn a blind eye to it? :rubchin:

as HighburyJD has said we are in a new era now.

even despite a recession the Emirates is always full and people are paying far more for tickets than they ever were in the 80s. The PL is a global brand now. If attendances ever dropped off in England (which at the moment is unlikely) then there would be moves to play some games abroad. Kroenke's American football team is playing a league match in London soon I think. He would be delighted to see an Arsenal league match take place in the US. It could happen.

:banghead: nope, being a supporter like highbury Jd means castrating yourself and giving all the power to the money hungry suits upstairs . supporting a club is judged by how much money you give to them, not actually having your say, letting the club know how you feel and actually being proactive.

you don't know what kind of supporter I am - I attend AISA and AST meetings, I'm a member of the FSF
there's lots I think should be done differently - I just love the club, find abuse for it's employees distasteful and can't imagine not attending games

the thing that could change my mind would be Usmanov ownership - I would probably end up getting banned if that gangster took over

The sign of a very young mind. Everything goes in cycles my friend - boom and bust. Do you think football clubs will forever be attracting record attendances ? Go back to the record attendance of most clubs - 1930s and earlier - then it sunk in the 70s and 80s. Growing again now but not immune forever

All sports have phases of boom and bust - cricket in the West Indies for example, which was by far and away the most popular sport there in the 70s and 80s and is now virtually amateur and bankrupt.

Football may well be the country's number 1 sport but continue to charge people ever escalating prices and drop the standard of the product, and watch what happens.
