The first 3 things you'd do if you ran the Club..

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

The yank bought the club but hasnt sacked the board and they are no longer shareholders......? Personally I think that sacking them is too good for the c**ts and a more severe punishment is due

It is outrageous and unbelievable to think that one of us will one day run Arsenal. It's a hypothetical thread. No one asked you what you think will happen. Rather what you would do.

Anyhoo, here's what I'd do - in my infinite wisdom of having never run a football club in my life 8)

1. Sort out contracts. Shift deadwood. Erase notion from within that there should be relative equality of all players' wages regardless of form, achievements and contribution. I like Quartz's idea of lower salary but higher bonuses. Might be hard to implement, though.

2. Have a look at Wenger. Observe him at training. Does he still have what it takes to drive the club on? Does he still have the ambition? Does he still have the dressing room? If so, keep him on but make it clear that he will be held accountable for results. If not, then show him the door. Find replacement. I don't know who.

3. Sort out the commercial side of the Club. Sort out sponsorship deals so that the burden for repaying the stadium is lessened on the supporters. If that means sacking Gazidis and whoever is under him, then so be it. Keep him on if necessary though, but cut out the PR bullshit. Arsenal fans don't want to hear how many Facebook friends the club has or how many hits the Chinese site has.

Again, I am not in the least bit knowledgeable about how to run a football club, but that is my tuppence, for what it's worth.

Oh, and good thread, Frankie 8)

can't see Wenger 'losing the dressing room' most of the players owe their careers to him
the commercial team recently hired were the best of the best allegedly (I'm sure thats how they are being paid) but the contract renegotiations are 2014
dont think anything serious can be done till then

1. Keep Wenger with new assistant manager, but force a change of transfer policy on him. The aim...to win the league in the first year of ownership. If he fails big time as in 10-15 points off the top, he's gone. If its tight 3-6 points, 1 more year, if he fails again he's gone. As well as this I would do my best to get the likes of Adams, Bergkamp, Pires and Henry as part of our coaching staff in some capacity.

2. David Dein made chairman - His first goal would be to restructure the wage and transfer policy, get rid of the deadweight and strike good deals for new palyer. An initial big spend would take place in order to improve the squad.

3. Agree with most....petition the FA for safe standing. If approved tickets prices lowered.

so anti this Dein as chairman shizzle
his son has been desperately destabilising the club at every opportunity to prove his dad right
- that the club could never win without a sugar daddy - orangeDein junior has been whispering this in the ear of every Arsenal player he represents for donkeys years

Dein is a failed businessman - he never made a bean from anything except the Arsenal
taking out big wages, using it to get on gravy train expensetastic fa and club gangs.

He has lots of friends in the press that have somehow sold this idea he's vital to the arsenal
I dont see it...

1. Book Gazidis's one way ticket to anywhere 1000 miles+ from North London (with the exception of Tottenham)

2. Clear his desk for him

3. Drop kick the corporate leech all the way to the airport

Next.....

As JD said, if Dein loved this club so much he wouldn't be letting his son try and stitch us up at every available opportunity. But maybe he is trying to get back at the board as opposed to the club/fans etc.

How about I flip this back at you jd..........for 2 or 3 summers on the trot PV4 was meant to be leaving us going to madrid or whoever so was Dein Jnr destabilising him too ? I feel that maybe the presence of his dad convinced PV4 to stay and that ability to get the players onboard has been woefully lacking since DD was ousted. All the big players at the club at that time expressed their disappointment and opposition to the sacking of DD so maybe instead of blaming his son for rocking our boat you might see that the fact that we are losing players is cos (a) his dad aint around to talk them around and (b) the players are not going to hang around to be part of a selling club that is simply treading water and like it or not that is exactly what we have become

This isnt a dig at you per se but to listen to many Gooners you would think that no player has ever looked to leave us before Dein Jnr came on the scene  It is very convenient to attach blame to him just cos his dad sold his shares to usmanov but that is a crock of shit as far as I am concerned. It isnt the media that fabricated the story that we aint won shit since DD was ousted and I suggest that if you ask veteran Gooners whether, knowing what they know now, would they still support the move to the grove then a large percentage would say no for the very same reasons that saw DD oppose the move in the first place

I do not buy the line that Darren Dein tries to move his players away from Arsenal as a deliberate policy of revenge.
The evidence is circumstantial, and easily countered.

Cesc was always going back to Barcelona.

Henry knew he could no longer play week in week out in the Premier League to his existing standards, plus had a genuine desire to try his hand in Spain.

Clichy was sold by us. He did not want to leave, but was offered a new deal that made it clear he was not wanted. Most fans wanted him gone, his form was bad for a while before he left, though he has improved at City.

Adebayor? If anything Darren Dein's "crime" was getting him a high salary from us!
Was glad to see the back of Adebayor.

We will see if RvP moves or not.

It may be a conflict of interest with a club he supported as a boy but as an agent it is Darren Dein's remit to get his players the highest wages possible, at clubs where they are happy.
If that involves winning trophies, then he would want to see evidence of senior player investment to think that would happen at Arsenal.

The kids are alright, but on their own not enough to win the big trophies.

JD

Can you prove David Dein was a failed businessman?
If so, how did he get the money to buy his shares in us?

We have not won a trophy since David Dein left.
Say what you like about him, but he went to all first team games and many reserve games.

David Dein wanted us to rent out Wembley.
In hindsight not such a good idea in terms of fan travel and atmosphere.
But at least we tried playing there for two seasons in the Champions League to see what it was like before deciding.

He was also proved right that the stadium move would take funds away from the transfer kitty.

I was and still am in favour of the stadium move for the long term, but can see his view made sense in the immediate and mid term.

Yawn.

1. Sack Wenger and replace with either 1) Pep. 2) Klopp (both far better managers)

2. Sack the board

3. Change the entire loser culture at the club: that means no celebrating of 3rd. Ban all loudmouth interviews from nobodies who've won nothing (hello Chesney). Competition for places in every position a must. Medical team to be thoroughly shaken up. Sign players who join to play for the CLUB, not one individual overrated manager. Let it be known that 2nd is nowhere, same way Alex Ferguson has instilled this at Manure.
