mc leish sacked?

But hold on Quartz. Whilst I agree that O'Neill was spending a bit much, how well were Villa doing under him? Did O'Neill not have the backing of most Villa fans? And more to the point, how much lowering of the wage bill has Lerner undertaken post-O'Neill? How much money has Lerner made off the back of the club? Because he sure as hell ain't losing it.
These are the points Swiss Rambler misses pal...

I fail to see how Lerner has made money out of Villa so far.
Looks to me as if he has lost a chunk.

Low prize money.
Not exactly a glamorous club for TV revenues.
Lack the worldwide support other UK clubs have for commercial revenue.

Maybe Lerner will sell for a profit?
Time will tell.

Wage bill cut drastically since O'Neill's time, transfer bill too. So yes McLeish was up against it there.
O'Neill was a better boss than McLeish, even allowing for the spending difference.

But the next incumbent can help himself by at least buying a striker. They offer so little goalscoring threat.

Right now it is not an appealing job.

So do you think that like Roman and the Sheikhs, Randy Lerner bought Villa of all clubs, just for the fun of it?
Because I can assure you, he didn't. Remember, tv revenue is evenly split here - not like Spain.

Lerner will do what Kroenke will do - sell for a profit to a Middle Eastern/Chinese consortium.

It's naive to think Lerner would be in this for anything like profit.

People like the Glazers, Kroenke, FSG are in football for profit. Pure and simple. There's a reason all the Yanks have jumped on the sport.

The only ones who are so loaded as to not care are Abramovich, Usmanov, Abu Dhabi, and the owners of PSG and Schalke (Gazprom).

Please read my post again and see where I wrote "Maybe Lerner will sell for a profit? Time will tell."

Of course Lerner has not bought Villa for fun.

But so far it does not look as if he has directly made money from it.

Villa and Arsenal are two very different kettles of fish but once4 again Baba fires wide of of the mark .
Lerner cant be accused of asset stripping as when he arrived there was nothing to strip !
He Poured untold Millions into the Martin O'Neil spendathon which got them to 6th ,with the sort of money Villa spent Arsene would have won us the league !

After O'Neil went he decided to balance the books a bit ,Ok Hiring the Sick Houlier might have been a mistake and I personally dont rate ,McLeish but neither caused the problems Villa now face, they rest with the man who is now at Sunderland.
That their fans choose McLeish as their scapegoat says a lot about them too.

Opinion at Arsenal is divided as to whose fault the lack of trophies in the cupboard is but in my opinion it isn't Kroenke its the shyster Fizman whose only contribution to Arsenal was to have acquired shares cheaply and wrung the last cent out of the buyer for them.
Kroenke isn't keen on spending even more on the club and hopes the current model will continue as is .
America is full of large sporting franchises that make money but dont win trophies so Stan feels he can maintain the staus quo and he may be right .
If season ticket holders dont renew the club feels that the corporates still will ,and that the tourist transient fans will by more from the shop . He might well be right too .

Wenger has his faults and they multiplied as the club consistently drained money from the playing pool to bolster the balance sheet drive up the share price and has ultimately given us second rate players who cannot perform to the Wenger module .

The problem we face (Comments Deleted by IHH) is where do you vent your spleen, and upon whom ?

If you go for Wenger and he leaves ,who is to replace him ????
Any incoming manager will have to meet Sky High fan expectation on a spending budget less than QPR's let alone city/chelsea/n17/liverpool/and mufc !

Realism isn't nice but short of an all out riot which few have the stomach for ,do not expect things to change very much at le grove !
