Craig Eastmond is 21 now and has hardly been given a chance in the first team. I would love to know what kind of wages this kid is on as surely its clear by the age of 21 that he isnt Arsenal quality and he is right down the pecking order in the middle of the park.

Agreed, and we did this with the likes of Jay Simpson and Mark Randall too. FFS - when they've been loaned out to a fourth club and hit 21 surely the idea should be that they are ready. Thats the problem with our wage structure, it rewards poor players with inflated wages but we wont pay for quality at the top. Its the main reason why we couldnt shift Bendtner and Denilson last summer, after all who would pay those dopes 60,000 a week. I cant see how you can justify that and would love Wenger to try and justify it.

Take Bendtner as the prime example. The club announced he had signed a long term deal in September 2009 - this was the deal that prompted the shirt change to number 52 and the rumour that that was his weekly earnings.

Now I'll stand corrected but if he really was given a 5 year deal on 52k per week, it was done on the back of 44 starting appearances to that point, 12 of which were in the Beer Cup and FA Cup. So effectively less than one season of PL appearances and the guy is on £2.5m+ per annum guaranteed for 5 years. A couple of years later is it any wonder he wanders around with that attitude of his and why nobody wants to sign him permanently on those wages ?

He was a good shot stopper. Useless at positioning and coming out for crosses/not coming out for crosses.

And, as has been been pointed out on many occasions.....it's not his fault that he was selected to play.

He's had a good few years being paid fortunes. We would all do the same if we could.

Splitting hairs because be under no illusions, he was far from good enough to be a regular no.1 at Arsenal but the stuff I've highlighted there I don't believe was down to him.

Softest goal at Birmingham? Fuck me, watch Fabianski's effort in Porto - the first defied belief but the second ! And there's an endless list of Flapper classics. The 4 he conceded at Anfield throwing away Arshavin's magic were woeful - 2 of them directly his fault, and I'll never ever forgive his ineptitude for that 5-1 hammering at the Lane in the Beer Cup - the goals he conceded to Keane and Jenas were so pathetic I'd have backed Almunia or Mannone to have saved them with their eyes closed

As I said though splitting hairs somewhat but I'll only truly celebrate him leaving once I know that fuckwit Fabianski has followed him out of the door and Mannone too. All of three of them had their chances and blew it. Sign someone like Gordon or Jaaskelainen as a back-up and give the young Martinez lad a chance in the Beer Cup
