Re: Flamini return: Yes or No?
I can't back up that view at all. I'm all for showing players faith when they're performing well and not picking players based on reputation so I would say it was harsh on Flamini to start Clichy against Villarreal. However, Cole was one of (if not the) best left-back in the world at that time, it would have been absolute lunacy to leave him on the bench.rigsby wrote:Nonsense. Flamini had done brilliantly well, and is part of a defence that has a CL record. Cole played in only 1 game in that run. Flamini deserved his placeCole the best left back in the world at the time or close to it or a Central midfielder filling in at that role. No contest really like

I know that we hadnt got near a champions league final prior to that season and havent got near one since but I cannot agree with the dropping of flamoney for cashley cole - I dont care how good a player cashley was at that time cos it was known by all and sundry that he was leaving us and he had totally disrespected the club by meeting the chavs on the sly whilst still under contract with us

The judas c**t should never been allowed play for the club again (and I include reserve games in that) after the way he behaved and that would have been some kick in the bollox for him with the world cup only weeks away but yet again we collapsed and surrendered control to a high profile player

I can see what youre saying augie but its a hard one i think. We had the best left back in the world at the time (maybe) available or we could play with a left back who is actually a midfielder playing out of position against Barcelona in maybe the biggest game in the history of Arsenal Football Club. In hindsight after we lost and Cole fucked off its easy to say its the wrong choice but i probably would have done the same in wengers position
Re: Flamini return: Yes or No?
But flash, surely cashley's situation is at the very least the same as that of nasri's but realistically was even worse and nearly everybody agreed that the little lesbo c**t should not have been allowed play for us at all last august ? For me we either have principles and pride in the club or we dont and we cant just change it depending on the importance of the match

Re: Flamini return: Yes or No?
As i said i can see what youre saying but if Wenger hadnt played Cole there would have been people saying we lost because we should have played the worlds best left back instead of a midfielder who fills in there, he couldnt win..... Personally and although i do see where youre coming from, i think the importance of the match had to come first on the dayaugie wrote:But flash, surely cashley's situation is at the very least the same as that of nasri's but realistically was even worse and nearly everybody agreed that the little lesbo c**t should not have been allowed play for us at all last august ? Re: Flamini return: Yes or No?
Remember around the time he was running his contract down someone describing him as a ' Pub performer playing as a concert pianist' as he was made look good by the quality of player around him. He obviously believed the hype but got found out in Milan despite injuries and looks like ending up another 'grass is greener on the other side of the grove' player .Would have taken him on the closing day of the window last summer but expect (foolishly ) more this time around. That's a firm 'No' for me
Re: Flamini return: Yes or No?
I agree that there are a few players who have left us in recent years that have since regretted their move but I honestly believe that flamoney isnt one of them - he has to have known when he went there that he would have been behind pirlo and gattuso but yet he still went there so I honestly think that he doesnt give a shit that he rarely played and he now has another bosman move in the offing so is probably thrilled

Re: Flamini return: Yes or No?
probably not as havent seen enough of him.
BUT he was immense that last season, whatever anyone says, really top class, energetic box to box ball winner, not sure where it came from (perhaps rosicky should get onto the same dealer....) as he was woeful pretty much in central midfield before that last season. never have i seen such an improvement in a player.
to think we actually had options then in defensive midfield, shame we let them all go at the same time.

Re: Flamini return: Yes or No?
He spent most of last year out with a serious knee Injury so there are alarm bells ringing here !
Take him on as a pay as you play with options for longer if he proves his fitness might be a good way of doing it however I we are too dumb to do that type of deal anymore although it was good enough for Dennis Berkamp !
My thoughts on his leaving the last time Ive made known .

Re: Flamini return: Yes or No?
Apparently re-signed at AC for one year with a 60+% pay cut. And he left for the money.

And I still believe that - 60% of milan wages would still be more than he would get at most clubs especially those that might be interested in signing him. As well as that, getting 60% of wages with the only injury threat being an infection from all the splinters in his arse is a good deal
