OX Dropped

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I dont know. dropping the Ox and playing carroll suggests to me that instead of the direct approach he is going to attack on the wings and use carroll as a target man in the box. If it works great, if not then bring on the ox. Its called tactics, and you pick the players that suit em best.

how is he supposed to score goals if he doesnt play :banghead:
He doesn't play because he isn't good enough, simples.

I am not biased but Carrol is shocking and Young was awful against the French. Ox played well in a really tough game for him.
If England are playing 4-4-2, then I'm not surprised Young has been chosen ahead of Chamberlain on the left... assuming Young is on the left.

Personally, I'd pick Young over Chamberlain at the moment as well.

As for Theo being left out... well, I can't say that surprises me either. Bring him on with 15 minutes left and let him run.

Hodgson got it right.

Theo came on and made an impact but that is what we know he is good for, he's a fresh leg option and showed it tonight.

He shouldn't start games and Hodgson can see that, Carroll playing worked out for him as he did well.

The odds on Theo being top goal scorer at the tournament must have been huge.
