Welcome to The Arsenal, Olivier Giroud

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

What's also concerning me a lot is that his name sounds too much like Djourou!!
Chamakh is getting right behind in the pecking order and needs to be sold

i agree, i think the signings of Giroud and Podolski are to soften the blow of Rvp off to Juventues. if it does happen it's a big gamble taking on two players who no one knows will adapt to the PL

Bentdner and Vela are deffo going and i can see our 4 strikers next year being Giroud, Podolski, Gervinho and Chamakh

If Giroud scores eight in one game we can sing,

"Olivier, Olivier,
Never before has a Gooner scored more".

(I'll get my coat  )

That would be suicide.
Gervinho & Chamakh don´t score.
Podolski is a midfielder more than a striker.
Giroud needs time to adapt to the PL.

I still think there is a chance that RvP will stay and sign a new contract.

Really enjoyed the Mirror report on Giroud. It sounds like he is hungry in a similar way to Ian Wright who started his career late.
I have to admit I am pleased with the capture of Podolski and Giroud so early on. Its a very positive start to this transfer window.

Aaaah! there indeed is the 'Rub'
Many have to their minds he is no longer of the Arsenal
Verrily they have reasons good amongst all men
For this has been the way in our recent days and history
But, shall we,
the 'we' that is you and I fellow Gooners, dally and wonder
M\rk time with furrowed brow
or soothing thoughts,
Keeping alive the thread that is hope
and by which our dreams are anchored
Nay! tis not yet something the Gods are willing to reveal
And so, till such time
Be ye of hope and balanced mind
Weep not!
For tis not yet known what this tale shall tell.

All my Own work chippy mate..All 'My Own Work'.

 Chyren1 :barscarf:

As for your 'interpretation' Chippy - that is what exists between you and the ethers, much is made of words and yet it is often between them that'Truth' is found, as for McD's vanity transfer thread...what a load of Bollocks.

But I digress:

and so .................
with thoughts troubling
we lay our heads to other places
as slumbers wings lift us
ascending
without judgement
yet knowing somehow
what dreams best serve the workings of our heart
and the machinations of our minds

Of course he does, along with Denilson, Djourou, Arshavin, Park, Squillaci etc etc etc etc :banghead:

Whether or not the much-vaunted squad purging will take place is still unlikely, although I imagine Chamakh is picking up enough wages and still carries enough of a reputation in France to facilitate a move. What is bad news is that South Korea have told Park he doesn't have to do his military service before 30 now... clearly watched him on the rare occasions he's played for us and decided his marksmanship isn't of the required standard should the enemy from the North start fisticuffs.

Another good article from Goal about possible formations with and without RVP.
