As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Look at the calculation method, it's not merely about making a loss. It's TOTAL INCOME vs FOOTBALL EXPENDITURE. When you think of the annual debt repayment costs of the likes of United, the fact that that is precluded from the calculation makes it hugely inaccurate. It's possible for big clubs to therefore make huge factual losses while making a profit for FFP purposes, not to mention the exclusion of certain expenditure such as youth and training facilities etc.
At the end of the day it's unrealistic to expect every club to turn a profit every year, and the rules are aimed at those being financed by extremely wealthy individuals. That said, these rules are full of loopholes and although I'm not a finance expert I dare say they could be somewhat circumvented by altering the method of transfer between benefactor and club, and certainly by passing it off as a business transaction.
UEFA's refusal to investigate an unprecedented kit/stadium sponsorship deal between Etihad and Citeh says all you need to know about it really. FFP rules are in principle a good idea, but they are better suited to some Wenger/Gazidis utopia rather than the real world of football where money dictates everything. Would UEFA have the bollocks to get involved in a huge legal dispute by trying to exclude the likes of Malaga, PSG, Citeh, Chelsea etc from European competition? Not a chance. When the rules are finally brought in to the full extent expect to see a lot of warning and no real consequence or sanctions imposed.
im sure on the wiki entry it says that huge stadium transfer / sponsorship deals dont count for FFP purposes... but i doubt UEFA will really impose themselves... if only as it might lead to another break-away European super league, which was being spoken about around 10 yrs ago...

I'm sure there will be other clubs collapsing without FFP, but they won't be big name, big money PL clubs. You can't compare the SPL and the PL - the monetary differences are HUGE.
WILL PEOPLE STOP MAKING THINGS UP. THE CLUB MAKES MONEY FROM JUST FOOTBALL WITHOUT ANY PLAYER BEING SOLD. THE FINANCIAL REPORTS ARE ALL ON THE PRAVDA WEBSITE.
PHW FROM THE HALF YEAR RESULTS
Operating profits from football (before
depreciation and player trading) were increased to
£15.2 million from £9.4 million for the prior half year.

Yep i can just see chelsea and city going down to division 3 soon
if Abramovitch fell out with Putin or the Arab Spring turns into full blown revolutions
it's possible for Chavski or Shitty's owners to end up dead let alone skint
huge structural deficits without a billionaires cash input (especially considering the football creditor rule)
would result in either of those clubs quickly going bust
its taken more seriously abroad, look at AC Milan selling Motta and Ibrahimovic to balance the books, Inter have signed knowone and Juve are not spending massively
