GB Team - Football

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

GB was looking good on penalties up to that point, but Butland looked completely unconfident throughout. Both keepers not spectacular in truth.

Sad to see GB lose again in such similarly disappointing fashion.

Maybe so but at the same time it wasnt a competition that was supported by the big clubs, the big players or indeed by most footie fans so I wonder how disappointed people will really be
Not much, mainly because it happened on Britain's greatest ever olympic night. But a medal is a medal so I wanted us to win.

Team GB is a bit like Frankenstein s monster , unloved by all except it's creator and wholly composed of the knackered unwanted parts of other teams. :barscarf:

Couldn't think of a more accurate comparison. Scottish and Northern Irish support was always going to be weak to non-existent, the majority of Welsh fans I know are apathetic to a British team at best, strongly opposed at worst and from what I can gauge from English fans there isn't a great deal of interest. Football at the Olympics just doesn't work as a huge spectacle, especially not in the same summer as an international tournament, and especially not when you're trying to force distinct footballing nations together.
