There is no page 12 on the pdf? Or am I being dense?Chippy wrote:For the gazillionth time it is sat in the bank. You can see it on Pravda.the playing mantis wrote:why do we have to balance the books? our so called exwmplerary model of self sustaining is shit.
we have to sell players to make it work. what other supposed top or challenging top club has to do that? not even sperz.
the question is why, where is all this money going, in days passed we had a transfer kitty of decent size, the glory years bergy, henry viera etc at highbury for example, where we didnt have to sell in order to balance spending.
is this money going on debt repayments,as i thought that had been sorted by having ringfenced cash in the bank already in order to meet future obligations?
where is this money going? (its not wages as our wages are about what we should be spending for a club of our supposed size, even though we certainly dont get value out of the wage spend and its allocated ridiculously)
Look at p12 of the pdf, page 27 of the report itself

well done chippy, as ever ignore half what i write and jump down my throat. im suggesting without the player trading where the hell is the rest of the cash going. we only have cash in the bank cos of selling our best players. we never used to rely on that so much, so i repeat where is the rest of this income going? if we have a barren period with no saleable assets, our financila model is f00ked and so are we.

It's going on Wages.
Without player trading our model is making £4m-£5m a year based on current expenditure. Cut the wage bill of two players earning £50k per week we get around £5.5m additional bottom line.
Essentially we are currently in a position where we need to trim the squad in order to buy AND make a profit within that financial year.
Our current board are all about increasing the value of their shares and this is done by guranteeing revenue streams and increasing current assets (i.e Cash) Ask yourself this - is Kroenke going to want Wenger to spend more than we earn in a year and potentially reduce the clubs value?

thank u leginge. the problem is though our wages are not excessive for a club of our supposed size and the company we want to keep. sure its completely misallocated and wasted on certain players, but its level is around what it should be if we are really competing for th PL and CL. so how is this ever going to improve...will we always rely on player sales. i thought the move was to allow us to compete...waht lies. sure sponsorhip deals are undervalued but thats not going to make a massive diff when they are renegotiated.
our model is crap.

True - but you also need to take in sponsorship. Currently Liverpool get £20m per year for their kit sponsorship - we get £5m per year.the playing mantis wrote:thank u leginge. the problem is though our wages are not excessive for a club of our supposed size and the company we want to keep. sure its completely misallocated and wasted on certain players, but its level is around what it should be if we are really competing for th PL and CL. so how is this ever going to improve...will we always rely on player sales. i thought the move was to allow us to compete...waht lies. sure sponsorhip deals are undervalued but thats not going to make a massive diff when they are renegotiated.

Assume we can get another £15m per year and reduce the £5m or so finance payments we suddenly are making £25m per year (including the current £5m net profit)
This could pay for an additional £15m player and £75k wages. So theoretically a fully functioning sponsorship revenue stream will lead to an increase in the models profits.
Essentially it's all jam tomorrow which we have been fed for 6 years now. Moving was not really about competing. It was about securing the Arsenal name as a global brand, increasing value and making people rich. So far they have succeded.
I like to think of it in terms of the Republic building the second Death Star. It took years to build and probably cost a fair bit (Although I think the Storm Troopers earned a lot less than Denilson and Bendtner) but the ultimate goal was domination. Look how well that turned out...

Would be, but aren't Spanish papers even more notorious than their English counterparts for printing utter bollocks?clockender1 wrote:spanish papers reporting song has agreed terms with Barca and The Arsenal have agreed cash plus 20 yr old striker Cristian Tello.

Thing is, I think getting Tello would be a steal. he does have the ability to be a good winger/striker.clockender1 wrote:7 goals in 22 games - mostly cup and Cl, but still he's 20.Arsenal Till I Die wrote:Tello is a very good young striker from what I've seen of him.clockender1 wrote:spanish papers reporting song has agreed terms with Barca and The Arsenal have agreed cash plus 20 yr old striker Cristian Tello.
