Don't agree with that - we disagree on almost everything AFC at the moment but I don't doubt that his posts are genuine feelings even though I don't agree with them and sometimes am baffled by them![]()
We don't all have to have the same thoughts on Arsenal matters to be genuine Gooners and this place would quickly die a death if we were all the same
On an isolated point about the commercial deals, I hardly think they're going to make us #1 in the PL again. That said, we currently get less money than Spurs from kit sponsorship, and it doesn't take a marketing expert to see that we got a poor deal in the long run to help finance the stadium. Look at the deal Liverpool have just got, and they're really a club in decline and with little realistic prospect of getting back into CL this season. They sold their best player (Torres) along with their other best players like Alonso, Mascherano, Meireles, Benayoun and Bellamy, and Gerrard isn't half the marketing dream he was five years ago.SantaPoldi wrote:Disagree. We sell out to 60k fans more or less every game, have a considerable global fan base and are CL regulars. Criticise the club as much as you like but we are still one of the best-known and best-supported clubs in world football. Shirt sales and getting the sponsors brand on global TV is what they're interested in, not whether or not players are coming or going. Sponsors are only interested in transfers if they're going to affect the team so badly as to make a huge commercial exposure difference (e.g. CL qualification).
Like any of the extra finances would go to improving the squadnorthbank123 wrote:On an isolated point about the commercial deals, I hardly think they're going to make us #1 in the PL again. Now they have a granny shagger and a xxxxxxx leading their front line. We have a nutcase *Podolski* and a giant *Giroud*
a) Your statement reinforces my point that it's not about player transfers in a footballing sense, it's about brand image, sponsorship exposure, fanbase etc.SantaPoldi wrote:northbank123 wrote:On an isolated point about the commercial deals, I hardly think they're going to make us #1 in the PL again. Like it or not Liverpool are a bigger global brand in world football than us. 18 Titles and 5 European Cups proves that.
Probably not but at least it might go towards not having to make such considerable profits on player sales which is a start.swimmer1 wrote:

Stapleton has that honour in my book as we got shafted on the transfer fee. But this is close. And won't stop me calling our former striker "Robin van Staplecunt"1989 wrote:Worst traitor in Arsenal's history.

With Ashley Cole it's difficult to argue that he made the wrong decision. And we agreed the deal that sent him to Stamford Bridge. He tore up his Arsenal history but has made more at Chelsea.
