Forget what went on before (if you can) and judge him as a player, and compare to the current dross at left-back.
I think there could only be one answer here...
I'm sure if what Chelsea are offering is "derisory" then what we'd offer would be insulting to him. We wouldn't offer him a long term contract nor a large wage packet, so the deal is impossible... and that's before you take into account his history as a player and as a "man".

But, hypothetically, I'd take him back. He always gave 100% on the pitch and he's a winner. That's the calibre of player we need.

But, obviously it won't happen.

Anyway, am I the only person who thinks Gibbs could have a bright future?  I genuinely believe we've got a cracking player on our hands, and once he shakes of the injuries and is drilled defensively by Bould, I reckon he could become a very good Arsenal fullback. 8)
The first couple of games this season have started to change my opinion on Gibbs. Too often last year he was caught ridiculously out of position: dropping behind his centre-halves and playing people onside or being nowhere near the left-back position. So far this season, he seems to have been far better drilled and benefits from Podolski working back extremely hard to help him out. Not to mention that he's far more confident and direct going forward than Clichy ever was and in my book is a better full-back. Still not entirely convinced by him but I think he deserves a chance.

Agree with what you say about Cole: still world-class and a winner. However, above all he's a massive *word censored* and for the first time in a long time to me it looks like we have a group of players who enjoy playing together and really want to wear the shirt, so no I wouldn't have him back.

It's honestly hard to believe any Gooner would seriously advocate the return of a treacherous rat like Cole just because of his undoubted but ill-deserved talent, his on and off field conduct leading up and subsequent to his move across London right up to the present day has proved him to be a poor excuse for a human being, as others have said he does indeed exemplify everything that is wrong with the modern day player and is arguably the most universally hated footballer in the modern era, being rivalled only by his mate JT, and personally, I literally wouldn't care if he was Lionel Messi :!:
