Re: DIDIER DROGBA
No thanks, old, creaking, past his best. Quality Striker on his day - but those days will be few and far between - can you imagine the wage he will demand?
Re: DIDIER DROGBA
We defo need someone, but I think his Ego would cause problems within the team.
No thanks.
No thanks.
Re: DIDIER DROGBA
I'd rather not enquire about the c**t than for him to knock us back on the basis of his heart being with the chavs
Leaving aside my personal dislike of the man, I am still not sure if he would be a good signing - yes on his day he was virtually unplayable but has that day gone ? For long spells of last season and indeed the season before drogba played like he did not give a flying fcuk
Did he even score 6 league goals in all of last season ? I know he only scored 13 goals in all competitions in each of the last two seasons.

I asked this on the other Chel$ea player thread after you had a whinge that nobody could give a reason for not signing the
other than the fact that he is a

It kind of fits on this thread tooBut, on what basis do you want him back? He'll be 32 in the summer when a transfer would be made. Would you offer him a 2+ year contract taking him up to 34? (BTW, I don't want to hear about how "everybody" wanted Sol) What kind of wages would he demand? Do you think he'll still be good enough at 33/34?

Re: DIDIER DROGBA
i can think of 200,000 reasons why he won't be coming to the Arsenal
Re: DIDIER DROGBA
"Overall I believe that we already have a very big squad and I am confident we will be very competitive this season. We already have Giroud, Chamakh, Podolski and Theo can play there too. People forget that we have Bendtner and Campbell to come back too. The answer is not always to buy"
Re: DIDIER DROGBA
Ok so maybe am phrasing this question wrong: do you feel there is any striker at Arsenal that is currently in Didier Drogba's class? Could he not be given a one year deal?
People talking about his age: has Drogba's game ever been reliant on pace? Nope.
He is reliant on physical attributes (which he very much still has) and brute force (still has it too).
The only good point made by anyone so far relates to the wages he would command. That could be a problem.
But I defy anyone to tell me there is currently a better striker playing for Arsenal? Drogba was still good enough to dismantle Bayern in a final a few months ago, oh and he took good care of Barca too.
Fact is he is better than any striker playing at Arsenal here and now, head and shoulders. His ego is problematic but then again if you have a quality manager, then he would deal with that (just as Ancelotti managed to get the best out of him and Jose did). Unless of course, it's being suggested that the Arsenal manager lacks the cojones to deal with such an ego?
Like I said: if Sol on a one-year deal was 'good business' then how would Didier on a one year not be? He#s creaking for sure but I reckon stick him in this Arsenal team instead of Giroud, for a start Arsenal would be at least 2 points better off. One thing's for sure, a new striker is a 100% must (especially since Walcott will be sold in Jan)

Re: DIDIER DROGBA
I warned you all about him btw. To be re-visited in May.
This was Belarus remember, not Brazil.
Arsenal's Olivier Giroud booed off by own fans during France international
Olivier Giroud’s disappointing start to the season continued as he was substituted and booed off by his own fans during France’s 3-1 win over Belarus. ..The Arsenal forward’s barren run in front of goal continued at the Stade de France last night, with goals from Etienne Capoue, Christophe Jallet and Franck Ribery sealing the win for Les Bleus.
But it was a less enjoyable night for Arsenal’s £12million summer signing, who was removed from the action after an hour and subjected to jeers from the home fans.
‘I welcomed my position in the starting XI with a lot of enthusiasm and happiness,’ said the 25-year-old.
‘Being in French team starting XI is always a privilege. However, I was a little disappointed to be substituted.
‘When you are a forward you need time and try to not listen to the fans, above all at Stade de France, where the audience is always a little special.’
Giroud has scored just once in 11 appearances for Didier Deschamps’ side, while he has failed to find the back of the net in any of his first three Premier League appearances for the Gunners since joining from Montpellier.

Actually, they're intertwined, since my asking for Drogba is directly linked to the fact that our main target striker is shite.flash gunner wrote:Keep it on topic this is about whether Drogba should sign not how shit Giroud isBabatunde wrote:I warned you all about him btw. To be re-visited in May.
