Which "promising striker" is doing well in French league?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Yes, just as long as after every victory over Southampton, Norwich or Olympiacos you lot can post in your own "We told you so" thread, that's just fine

He is a player I am beginning to despise, he is absolutely shite and always has been.
Everytime he starts a game we play poorly. And every good performance we have his absence from the starting line up shines out like a fucking beacon.

I love the patented Ramsey reaction after another pathetic "attempt" on goal disappears out of the stadium. I think you know the one, teeth clenched "oh, so close...get it next time". No Aaron, not close, not even close to close. Please, amongst other things, take time in training to learn how to shoot.

Look, there is nothing knee-jerk about this. As I said in OP, the worrying pattern is emerging...for last three seasons Arsenal seem to be signing 'one season wonder' strikers from Ligue1 and as this policy somehow keeps our poor skint club afloat  , the pattern will surely continue. So why not keep an eye on who's going to be our future "he's just arrived, give him a season" goal-missing machine.

Or you perhaps think that Arsenal and not Chavs, for instance, will sign Falcao.

So who is doing well in Ligue1 atm, apart from Zlatan, who we "cannot afford"?

:banghead:
Seen him twice 'in flesh' this week, couldn't outrun any of Coventry defenders (that's League One) and as for his inability to hit the f***ing target from 5-10 yards out, well that's just lack of an basic geometry skills...
Agreed pal. He was fucking desperate against a team held off the bottom of League One by goal difference. I have no doubts at all that come 2015 the guy will be trotting around in the French 3rd division. His second touch is a tackle

SteveO I've just had an interesting phone convo with a French pal, big Marseille fan.
He absolutely insists that Chamakh is a better footballer than Giroud. And I agree. Least Chamakh buried sitters when he got here. The name that keeps banging on in my head is that of Andre-Pierre Gignac! Who Wenger came very close to signing...ended up at Marseille. He's no better than Jeffers FFS.

Wondering if Heskey might have scored more goals than Giroud, when presented with the same chances... :rubchin:

In any case I'm opting for Kevin Gameiro or Andre Ayew next year.
Gilles Grimandi is doing a superb job on his reputed massive wages...

No news on Moussa Sow - wasn't he last year's one season wonder ?

I'm sure they all have 'great technical quality' and are 'winners', 'intelligent' and have a 'very good spirit'

"Arsenal are on the trail of Guingamp midfielder Gianelli Imbula, 20"

There you go, that's what all that fat transfer pot and ST mega-money is going on maybe!
How long will we need to give him as an adaptation period do you reckon? If he shows he couldn't pass wind, let alone a football, do you think we'll be told its "knee jerk" and that "he needs a run of games"?
