which striker (left back and backup goalie) should we buy?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I think Neymar would make us the most watched team in Brazil
in 2014 when we renew sponsorship deals I think we could recoup the fee in a Brazil based uplift
it is a huge and growing market.

I think Neymar should want to learn from a manager who helped the careers of two of the best strikers in history.
I don't think he merits a place in Barcelona or RealMadrid's starting XI and that his career would suffer from not playing.

I am trying to make a case for us signing Neymar.
There's no rumour, it doesn't belong on a rumour thread
Neymar? Us? Surely you are joking?

Zero possibility ever. £50M + wages, for Uncle Arsene?

because:
1- 4th place already looks in danger
2- if we don't win a trophy before the end of this contract I don't see Wenger signing another one
3- Gervinho will go to Africa
4- looks like we could sell Walcott

I think we need 2 forwards TBH - maybe Henry on loan to fill in for Gervinho
I hope he stays there, awful player.

Daniel Sturridge is also said to 'prefer' a move the us. I haven't made my mind up on him either. All his clubs seemed to have rated him but then haven't played him much. Is there a reason?
His attitude fucking stinks and he isn't half the player he reckons he is.
So he should fit in well then as we have had our fair share of wankers that fit the bill

Demba Ba is well worth a shout at £7million

but his game will have to change if he goes to any European Club
will be harder if he goes somewhere he's not even guaranteed gametime...

cant compete on the wage though - I guess the equivalent would be £180k a week...

just depends whether he has any interest in moving to Europe
even if he does, city real and barça will be all over him. no chance for a club like arsenal

50mil for neymar isint so bad because if you look at ronaldo for 90mill they was very happy with the deal.

Shirts, sponserships, image rights etc.

You can make alot of money back

It wont happen though

Llorrente or Falcao would be great but given our track record in the transfer market under Wenger, completely unrealistic. Also, they are important players for their clubs and they probably wont sell thier best players like us
All this being said I wouldnt write off Giroud yet despite what everyone says. What about Edin Dzeko if he continues not to play for Citeh? Would have to be willing to take a pay cut as we willl never match the wages they pay but I think he could do a very good job

It's mental how underrated Dzeko is. The amount of times he comes on when they're in the shit and wins them points is ridiculous. He is a quality striker and would walk into almost any team in Europe, Mancini would be an idiot to let him go. All fine and well having a great squad assembled at unbelievable expense and steamrolling teams by 4+ goals when you're playing well, but having a striker like Dzeko who can grab you points you really don't deserve from staring down the barrel is what makes the difference between winning leagues and perenially falling short.

There was a lot of talk after they signed van Staplecunt about how good United's 4 strikers were when they won the Treble. Sheringham, Cole, Yorke and Solskjaer have nothing like the combined ability of Aguero, Tevez, Balotelli and Dzeko. I would love to have any one of those at the club, petulant wankers or not in the case of Tevez and Balotelli.

Saw Carlos Vela was trending on Twatter, when I looked why it was because he's having a half-decent game for Sociedad and Twatter is full of morons questioning why we let him go and praying that he comes back.

This thread was bad enough when people were touting the likes of Llorente and Falcao as potential signings, but Neymar as well now???!!!

Someone mentioned Pele - I think there is more chance of him signing up!

Messi and Ronaldo would be great and how about buying Van Persie back from Man Utd too? Obviously for less than the £24m we sold him for, so that we would still make a profit on him.

So the team would look like this

Chesney
Sagna-TV5-Mertesacker-Gibbs
Ronaldo-Arteta-Wilshere-TheOx-Podalski
Messi-RVP-Llorente-Falcao-Theo
Pele-Neymar

this is a joke thread!

We wont be buying anyone in Jnauary. By then we will get a few good results , wenger will claim this team is good enough.

We will then push the scum to 4th spot. Earn 25 mil in CL money, sell Tommy V and Sagna make even more profit.

The brain dead clowns will sing wengers name and life goes on

I'm very sure we will buy in January. We are short a striker already, in the NewYear we lose Gervinho and possibly Walcott.
Chances are it will be an Eduardo-esque signing: sub £10M, low wages, doing well somewhere off the radar
my argument is we should speculate to accumulate. As Jack pointed out, with a high-profile enough player you can make big fees back. We are at a key moment in our business cycle, the frontloaded sponsorship deals expire at the end of next season. This is exactly the right time to boost our profile.

Augie wouldn't be happy with Henry - I would, as a Gervinho stopgap. Even ancient he's probably better than him.
Having Henry and Neymar play together (even for a few weeks) is massive box office.
BG rightly says

but IMO would be a mistake for Neymar to go to one of those three, chances are he'd be a sub
if he wants to acclimatise to foriegn football quickly he needs to play. I honestly think Arsenal would be his best option.

Stan won't want to dip into his pockets and will be too worried about how the American election affects his portfolio to think about football. Neymar's agents will probably just tell him the best option for his career is wherever he earns the most money.

My opinion is it would be a great signing for both Arsenal and Neymar.
I don't think it's actually likely.
