For those not following the match tonight...

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

So if you're avoiding the game tonight what are you doing instead. I can't choose between making some cup-cakes and watching and go for the a walk in the pissing rain.

God forbid if you were a Barnet FC supporter or a team of that sorts

I've not been alive long enough to support The Arsenal like most of you old buggers here lol  (I was 21 on Sunday) but I know we've gone through rougher patches than this and many a fan stuck to the rafters!

You can't just tag out when things don't go our way
!

If we won something this season or went on a storming run of results would you suddenly jump back on and lea the celebration?

Speaking as one of the wise old men you refer to ( ), can I just say that it isnt the performances or the defeats that drain the hope/life out oif us but more the resignation that wenger isnt going anywhere so there is no light at the end of the tunnel  In days gone by when things were shit under neill, howe,GG or whoever, the fans would rightly make their feelings known in the belief that they could maybe influence change but these days wenger has been put on a untouchable pedestal by too many dickheads so there isnt much hope amongst Gooners and as the saying goes..."it's the lack of hope that kills us"

I understand what you are saying - but for me there is still a line you don't cross if you still want to consider yourself to be a gooner. And all this BS (even if said with tongue in cheek) about not being interested in our results.... :rubchin: .....I think that's the wrong side of that line  !

I watched my team getting raped by Real Madrid for the sixth time in 3 years   so you should be able to watch some narrow defeats

absolutely can't comprehend this thread and, indeed, this forum. Folk saying they won't watch the game because "blah blah blah blah, my thoughts and opinoions are all that matters and if folk don't agree they can sod off"

There's folk who say they won't watch when they obviously will. Why? ffs why? I really really don't understand the mentality...

C&P from game thread.

Ha ha ha thanks Arsenal, 29/1. Had a date, didn't even think of the game. Lovely meal and wine, great company and £580 better off.

No sex. Damn. 8)

Sorry mate but I think you're out of order questioning his loyalty just because he chose not to watch the match. I've deliberately missed watching quite a few games over the past couple of seasons because I didn't want to see what I thought would be the ensuing chaos and I've been a gooner for just as long - if not longer - than you!!

Sometimes it's just easier on the head, heart and soul - not to mention loved ones - to avoid looking at the game, not to mention how much better it is for one's health!! Doesn't mean we're not spending almost every second worrying about what's happening and imagining the worst while simultaneously hoping for the best. Most of the time I've made the right decision but occasionally I've been pleasantly surprised by the result and no gooner feels happier than me. Not even you!!

Well I made the omission of not watching only because its on at 0400 hrs and I forgot to set the alarm .
Would have been nice to see Squallachi and Chammakh working for their money, old squiddly must be on about 2 million a game !

If u really cannot stomach watching it though then maybe it is time to take up crochet or knitting or watching east enders and just be like so many people who like football and attach themselves to winning teams .

Armchairs ?

Rob one fix is to have a decent collection of Arsenal DVDs. Because we are not Chelsea and Man City we have been fairly good to brilliant through many different time periods.
Still that said you cant beat the ITS UP FOR GRABS NOW whole 90 mins with a few beers. Sit back enjoy and be amazed that we actually did it.
After that the 3 hour Arsenal history is a winner.
Just before bedtime it has to be Debbie does Dallas lol

Sorry Rob, but fair weather supporters we can do without..... Turning up at games & voicing your feelings would be good, or joining the protest but not going to the game. But not looking out for results or refusing to watch us on tv (albeit I can understand not watching tonight)..? Why not go the whole hog & give up posting on a fans forum as well....?
that's a bit of a nonsensical post mate, if you watch your team play as shit as we have been recently are you saying it's unreasonable to step back for a few weeks? what if he's been home and away for 10 years, having an arsenal blackout for a month means you're a "fair weather" fan? not up to you to make that call really, but opinions are like arseholes as they say...

i personally had the game on in the background last night, was doing other bits and bobs. it is undoubtedly hard at the moment with arsenal and everyone has different ways of dealing with the dross. i've stayed away from the emirates the past few weeks but will be in bradford and southampton. i'm also quite pleased we've had a few PL games that haven't been on the TV, watching soccer saturday and seeing us get beat at the weekend was a lot less difficult to stomach than having watched 88 minutes of that drivel.
