As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

The pumping heart and the unstoppable tears of joy watching The Arsenal win the League. Then even better a team was built playing with passion, skill and flair - and they WON trophies. They were the best footballing team around. This was the 'brand' I associate Arsenal with. Watching last weekends display - no passion - no flair - no skill - stuff your brand!
So you were 3 years old in 1971 and 18 years later you were 18?
The club has been pedalling a "brand" for a while now, but I will always associate what they consider the Arsenal brand as the Wenger brand. They bang on about "The Arsenal way" but they are talking about how we play football and that has not been our history. I don't blame them for trying play up other elements of the club, it's their job, it's just their message is so of course with what the majority actually believe it makes them and the club look stupid!
Agree that the Arsenal 'brand' (could have picked a better word) isn't just about winning. Too many outside observers presume we've just got our knickers in a twist because we haven't won anything. Yes, that's a hugely contributing factor, but it's more than that.
It's difficult for me because I started going when I was 6 the season that Arsene took over, so I've never personally experienced Graham or Howe's teams. But having been brought up supporting the Arsenal from a kid and having read autobiographies from several players under his reign, I personally think I still have a good idea what it was like to support the Arsenal under him. At any rate I certainly know what Arsenal stood for back then. I could cope with us being a poor team a way off the top if it was due to unfortunate circumstances, but not when the fans are paying so much money to line greedy directors' and players' pockets and are constantly being lied to and exploited.
What Tom Fox fails to mention is that the Arsenal is about passion, pride, class and professionalism. Four things we completely lack and have done for years. So while there is more than winning, he (and nobody else at the club) are delivering the extra components.

I'm up for the dont get mad, accept and embrace it,we used to have this mentality and life was great ,expect nothing and then go mad if u get something !
I agee there's more to Arsenal than winning (History, tradition, class- all gradually being lost under the current regime), but no fan gives a s**t about the club's bank account unless we're on the verge of administration, FACT
