Thought he was solid today. Nice easy game for a full-back to be introduced with but nothing to set off any alarm bells and a few wayward shots aside used possession well.

He was and although not seen or used by his teammates he made some nice little runs at times looking for 1-2s etc. Seemed quite nippy and once those around him get use tyo him more he migth be a useful addition; based on this single viewing anyway

Solid debut. Impossible that the lad is going to be worse then Santos so our bar is set quite low in that regard

Very solid start. He clears well and makes some good runs. Some nice quick passing and a few good crosses. He looks very promising. He looks as if he knows his job and does it well. It was nice to see a LB who knows how to stay back to cover for the CB when he goes forward. He did that well when Kos pushed up. He did make a few small mistakes, but he always recovered quickly.

I can't wait to see how he develops. I think we will have 2 strong LBs now for Wenger to rotate in and out. That is good news. I do home Verm is ready to go for the match against Munich as we'll need him at LB since Nacho isn't available.

Can we please get rid of Santos now!

It did seem like he had a good debut, did everything he needed to but Stoke were not the toughest test he will face. I wonder if he will have had to challenge for as many headers in Spain as he did today.

Will need to see him play more to see if he is better than Gibbs plus would be good to see him with Vermaelen so they can form a partnership.

Hopefully with time his fitness will improve as he made a few simple mistakes late in the game.

Agreed. When I hear the term "great going forward" to describe a defender you just know that he's going to be another wannabe left winger who does a bit of part time defending on the side. Its a bit like hearing the terms "good sense of humour and bubbly" before the inevitable minger turns up
