As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Was in a pub a few years back when Liverpool were playing Spuds at the Lane ..Carra had a nightmare scoring an OG and getting the run-around all game. The 'pool fans in the pub were calling him the "liability" throughout. Probably on facebook yesterday praising him .
Read once that Carra is the second highest scorer of goals against Liverpool in the Premier League era. I think his greatest strength was that he knew his weaknesses and rarely tried anything extravagant . Loved TH skinning him that night.
He was an Evertonian as a kid, and has in the past told the story of how along with his dad and his dad's mates, they painted "thank you Arsenal" on the gable wall of their local pub, on the night of the 26th May 1989.

Yeah but should that matter sid ? When he was on the pitch there was no more committed player for their team (and I include stevie me in that) than carragher and in an age of mercenary b****rds (and we have had more than our share ) then that is something to be admired.
It's funny that stevie me is the player that is idolised by the victims supporters yet he was minutes away from signing for the chavs while carragher has never shown anything but 100% commitment to the bin dippers

Only Andy Cole (11) and Thierry Henry (8) have scored more goals against Liverpool FC than Jamie Carragher (7).

Wasn't mean't as a criticism Augie, just an interesting anecdote and if anything it probably underlines your praise of him even more.
jamie carragher holds the record for current player in the premier league to score most goals 'against' liverpool.... of the 7 that hes scored, 3 were for spurs (Dirty ) !!
on announcement of his retirement, spurs are said to be devastated
also with his 'amazing' owngoal record his retirement announcement comes two days after a massive worldwide matchfixing scandal has been uncovered ......
i've never really rated him, fair play for sticking to the 1 club, respect for that .....
(find a liverpool fan whos praising carra and hit them with that own goal stat.... its feckin hilrious )

Decent defender but nothing more, with one knee working King was miles ahead of him. He has always been slower than even BFG but used to have better judgement.
Having said that impressive to think unlike Stevie Mee he always played for the dippers and never flirted with going to any other club. Good for their fans to have a true legend. Shame he's wasting all his experience on punditry. Wouldn't mind him as our defensive coach.
He went up in my book when that juvenile wankpot on Talkshite, Adrian Durham, accused him of being a "bottler" for retiring from international football and Carragher then phoned into the show and challenged Durham to come down to Melwood in person to see what a bottler he was. To hear the odious, little ginger amateur WUM squirming and spluttering live on air was about the best thing I've heard on that station
There'll be other players like him though. Gerrard and Terry are in the same bracket and there will be others who come through at clubs too. Whether we will be ambitious enough during Wilshere's entire playing career will be the question
