I don't know if you got the memo from the media and all United fans DB10 but Phil Jones is actually the second coming of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Ignore the fact that he can't get in the side ahead of that calamity Rafael, isn't trusted at all at centre-half by Ferguson (and is 5th choice at best anyway) and whenever he does play just charges around like the proverbial bull in the china shop - the fact he was able to kick players a fair distance away from goal yesterday and get away with it means he is now, once again, the future of English football.

I know United are cantering to the title with an impressive points total and they had a good result last night, but fuck me do their 'fans' overdo the smugness.

Of course Wayne Rooney is the best player is the best player in the world, that's a given. Add to that the amount of moronic comments expressing how they didn't realise just how good van Judas is (from the same people giving it the 'one team' nonsense last year). De Gea has improved but Ferguson goes out of his way to heap praise on him every time he puts in a good performance, and the ignorant masses swallow it right up and now think he's the best keeper in the world. Rafael has also been getting undue praise from their fans until he comprehensively embarrassed himself last night. Nearly every Man United fan whose opinions I have had the misfortune to encounter has expressed bemusement at the obsession with Wilshere and stated that Cleverley is as good, if not better.

Add to this that the weaker players in their squad (Carrick, Jones, Evans, Welbeck, Anderson) are always defended by United fans as being far better than people realise, and this is also rammed down everybody's throats on the off-chance they have a very good game.

It's like listening to a Spurs fans analyse their squad - if these players were anywhere near as good as the fans thought they would both be doing much better. Although they normally try and explain this away by using scapegoats like Nani and Dempsey.

They have every right to feel smug, as for defending their weaker players? we have done the same in the past with the like of Wiltord, when we had a right to feel smug.
An Arsenal fan criticising smug utd fans now, is, i'm sorry to say "sour grapes" and to utd fans irrelevant.

That goes without saying, but given almost 20 seasons of unprecedented success under Fergie, I think smugness is unavoidable and even at that I don't think they are as bad as l'pool fans were in their halcyon days, or even now for that matter.

Ultimately I think when you’ve had it good for as long as they have then it’s inevitable that they will be arrogant about their team. I agree that most of those players you mentioned are average but the fact is the manager makes them a team that is well drilled, usually exciting to watch and obviously very successful. Michael Carrick would not be so well regarded at any other team but whereas most of our players seem to get worse over time, he is an example of where Fergie has gradually coached him out of some of his poorer attributes. I still don’t think he is outstanding, he’s just more consistent and less error prone than a few years back.
Rooney isn’t even close in ability to the likes of Messi and Ronaldo but you’d want him on your side if you were going to war more than the other two because when the going gets tough he generally goes the extra mile for the team.
As for De Gea, it’s classic Fergie tactics. At the start of the season he made sure that De Gea knew he wasn’t a shoe in to play, however, they have worked with him on certain things in training and he is now bigging him up at every opportunity so he is confident for the big games at the end of the season. He’s always talking players up beyond their performances.
In short, I just cannot wait until their manager :censored: off!

I would want my racist 86 year-old widowed neighbour in a war more than Messi and Ronaldo...

Sid - I agree they have a right to be smug. And tbh it is sour grapes, come on this forum every day and you get nothing but sour grapes, what do you expect when a club of our size and historic success suddenly accepts mediocrity and stops competing?

And it goes beyond 'defending', most United fans would want Smalling, Ferdinand, Jones, Cleverley, Carrick, Young and Rooney to start for England (give or take one or two perhaps). I'm sure you have your fair share of clueless glory-hunters over there but in South Wales every single *word censored* is a glory-hunting wanker who claims to support United and can't think for themselves and tbh after decades of it it grinds on you!

What gets me was the smugness of the AKB's last season when we finished 1pt ahead of the Spuds forgetting our wage bill was £45m more than there's and we finished 19 points behind the top 2.Telling us Wenger was right all along. When you have had the success Utd have had they have every right to be smug.We dont

Fergie was asked do you think you would survive if his team went 5 years without a trophy. He replied "It wouldnt happen simple at that.No chance"

Oops I think I've stumbled on Wenger out thread no 1,0000005.

Anyways just sat through Gareth Bale Hotspur againstLyon.

GBH Fc fairly average most of first half, theape gets a freekick scores it....think keeper might have done better but nevermind.

The 2nd half wonder goal from Lyon LB Umtiti(worth seeing if you get a chance), Lyon get tacticsperfectly Ape boy denied space and generally looks average. Lennon on the right showing why succesive managers prefer Walcott to him, then 1 minute to go Ape boy wins a free kick(stupid challenge on the edge of the boxwhen Ape boy had nowhere to go.

Bang, perfect free kick :cussing: :cussing:

It was the same in the game against the barcodes and the baggies. He dragged an ok but nothing special team over the line.

Shame as thought Remi Garde got his tactics right and largely nullified the scum.

In 2 weeks time if the Ape hasn't fallen out of a tree and broken both his legs,we cannot be giving him free kick opportunities around the box. If we nullify him , we will get something out of the game because I would take Jack/Mikel over Dembele/Sideways Parker in central midfield.

I've found this too and its unbelievable how little appreciation these clueless "mancs" have for players who dont play for them. Cleverly is a decent enough player but he is simply not in Wilshere's class and yet I've heard some drivel, even when not arguing that cleverly is better its all about how they're both as good as each other just "different". Cleverly is apparently more physical and jack is a ball player or maybe its the other way around... either way its just horse shit. Touch, control, passing, drive and pace over the first 5 yards you name it and Wilshere beats cleverly hands down. Cleverly is marginally more effective then Jack in terms of goal scoring at the moment but I would be surprised if that lasts their entire careers.

Manchester United fans are just intolerable.
