Next years Reduced budget

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Now the big problem is that if Tottenham finishes in the Top4 THEY will have extra money and CL football to attract top class players to strengthen a squad that already finished above Arsenal so it would be very hard for Arsenal to get back into the Top4.
If it happens twice in a row it could lead to a very rapid decline and it could take a long time to come back.
Whereas there's no way we'll invest significantly particularly if we finish 5th or below.
I'm not too sure about that to be honest. Finishing outside the top4 costs a lot of money and I doubt Kroenke would be happy about it

And Suarez hasn't exactly played a lot of CL football at Liverpool....and haven't that shite down the Seven Sisters Road not signed the odd "star" name despite being in our shadow for so long!

I think players are attracted by ambition and by the Wonga, more than by the promise of participating in a competition that we have zero hopes of ever winning....
Of course it's not the only thing they care about but I guess it has an impact. I also think Suarez for example did belive that Liverpool would get back into the CL and I guess he could leave soon if they don't. So yes it's a combination of ambition and what you have at the moment. Of course it's also about money playing time weather and stuff like that.

Which is exactly why we will not sign any top class players any time soon, unwilling to spend the money and a complete lack of ambition from the board!

Kroenke out

Lee Dixon hit the nail on the head on Tuesday by saying even getting in to the champions league does not stop Arsenal selling there best players

so all that nonsense about not getting CL, and Jack, Sagna, etc, etc will leave is nonsense

We all know at the moment we are a million miles from winning in, and only the lure of the million is what drives the club

Won't happen but i wonder, if they offered say £5m to win the league cup, £7m to win the FA Cup & then if you managed to do the double, like we did, you could get a £25m bonus windfall, that would make clubs more interested in winning the FA & league Cup

I detest the CL

Wenger always claims that wages are part of any deal but its more lies as they are NOT paying the player all his wages in advance!!!!! It's ridiculous to suggest that Cazorlas wages in 2015 are coming out of 2012's budget! It's yet another reason to spend less.
Of course they have a contingency plan for not qualifying for the CL........it's called 'not spending anything' and started in January! Wenger will be buying more 'bargain basement' players than ever when we finish 5th or 6th this season. Arsenal FC are doomed, led by an owner who is motivated only by profit and a manager who is more interested in the financial side of the game than building a winning team. Zero ambition and obsession with money means only one thing. Arsenal are done, finished as a force in English football. We are the new Everton, without a decent manager!!
