Re: The Coquelin/Frimpong/Yennaris - Who Will Make It Thread
Anyone see Zelalaem in the youth game?
Good touch, similar to Eisfeld.
Gnabry played well too.

Arsenal record bid for £30m Gotze as Wenger brings on kids (again)
Gedion Zelalem, a 16-year-old German with an Ethiopian father, has been training with the first team and is expected to be promoted to the squad next season.
Hector Bellerin, an 18-year-old right-back from Barcelona, and Serge Gnabry, a 17-year-old midfielder from Stuttgart, are also likely to be fast-tracked.
But it is Zelalem, discovered playing high school football in the USA, who will attract most attention as he is likely to emulate Cesc Fabregas and Jack Wilshere by making his debut in the Capital One Cup team next season.
Zelalem was not even attached to a professional side when he was spotted by Arsenal's US scout, Danny Karbassiyoon, but plays in the same position as Wilshere and Fabregas.
Zelalem made an impressive debut for Arsenal in the Under-21 team against Liverpool on Monday.
Arsenal youth coach Steve Gatting said: 'He came out of it with a lot of credit.
He's only 16 and that was the first game he's played for the club at a competitive level, and what a place to make your debut. 'He came out of it well.

I thought Sanchez Watt had left Arsenal permanently, but he still seems to be playing as he scored for the U21s.

Sanchez Watt is like the kid that never moved out. He'll still be knocking round in the Ressies til late 30s_James_ wrote:I thought Sanchez Watt had left Arsenal permanently, but he still seems to be playing as he scored for the U21s.

Didn't Rhys Murphey leave the ressies at an old age eventually?

Akpomb will make it at first team level - he isnt in the Simpson mold (decent infront of goal but not cut out for the top level) - he has movement, pace, intelligence and gets in the box, he scores a lot of "poachers" goals.
Gnanbry and Eisfield will be more in the first team next season - both look good enough.

Re: Coquelin/Frimpong/Yennaris and Other Youth Progress
On the few occasions that I've seen him play I've been impressed with Eisfield. Looks very comfortable on the ball. Reminds me a bit of the way the likes of Fabregas, DB10, Vieira and Henry all seemed to have loads of time and space when in posession. Certain players have that. Hopefully that's not the kiss of death for him now!Bendtners Drinking Buddy wrote:Akpomb will make it at first team level - he isnt in the Simpson mold (decent infront of goal but not cut out for the top level) - he has movement, pace, intelligence and gets in the box, he scores a lot of "poachers" goals.

Agree about Eisfeld - he helped change the game at Reading in the Carling Cup and he's impressed me on the few other occasions I've seen him. Glad that he's being kept away from the first team at the moment too, not what he needs right now beyond the odd CC appearance.

Won't see Eisfeld as a first team regular.

Whenever I see Eisfeld's name, I think of Enfield... maybe that's a bad sign?arseofacrow wrote:Won't see Eisfeld as a first team regular.

I don't have faith in our youth. Too many failures.
