Player of the season ?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Hey guys. My name is Tom. I'm 19 and been a season ticket holder for 7 years until this season when I started uni in Portsmouth. Been looking at this forum for ages now and finally decided to join.
I'm 50/50 with wenger and 100% anti Gazidis and co.

Btw I voted for Mertesacker as player of the season cause he's shown up Vermaelen and Koscielny this season. Been the one consistent player in my opinion.

Welcome Tom.

Why are you split on Wenger, but so anti-Gazidis?

Do you not think that Gazidis merely is a mouthpiece for the owner, a man who is trying to play the best cards he can from a difficult hand he was dealt, or is Gazidis messing things up?

I share the view of the majority of posters. I can't think of a single player who deserves it. A very sad state of affairs.

On statistics, I guess Walcott should win, but I've spent most of the season shouting abuse at him.

I used to be a lot more anti wenger but this season I just don't see who we could have to replace him. I wanna see if he actually signs a decent player this summer compared to the rotten investments previously. But to be honest if he was to leave i wouldn't lose sleep over

I do believe Gazidis is Kronkes puppet and wouldn't mind the lot of them to :censored: off

Gazidis is just an employee, most recent work by our executives (Puma + Emirates deals) is impressive
I think some of our recent investments have been very good - experience and quality: Arteta and Mertesacker
still have hope others can turn out as good signings Ox, Jenks, Giroud and Podolski

I honestly think my vote for POY, Cazorla, was a top top quality, superstar signing
surround him with more depth and quality and we have a team that can win things

I agree, why the discussion but not the player......it has to be Fabianski, 100% record, in the 5 games he played we conceded 3 goals and scored 13 :barscarf:

Stats.....gotta love em  8)

never heard anyone list "goals scored whilst on the pitch" as a stat to support their opinion of a goalie...?

Well it's a new for you then....never thought I'd hear that

Well obviously he gave the team stability and confidence at the back so much so that it gave our fullbacks far more licence to get forward knowing all was well if they got caught upfield, hence more attacking play, hence more goals.

You might come from islington mate but even you can learn a thing or two :?

Anyhow your choice of cazorla.....for me he is a flat track bully

TBH no one was outstanding. Theo in fairness to him has actually managed to score a few this year but has also been anonymous in way too many games.

The best two players for me were Cazorla and Arteta but again, they haven't been outstanding either, just better than the rest... :|

I wouldn't go as far as saying the second half of the season Lefty, but I agree he was very good for about 4 or 5 games, deffo huge improvement. I'm hoping he can keep it going for next season but have a bad feeling he'll resort to flicks and tricks and generally pissing the ball away... :|
