What's changed? Not sure if it is because players don't want to play for him, but more to do with that he seems unable to pay up for the player to begin with. It's been said on here many times and I agree with it, that he is the reason that we don't land these players. I remember when we did have the trolley dash a few seasons ago - those deals took no time to get done, which points to one reason why we haven't signed anyone. I am thinking that he doesn't have the nous to pay what is needed - I will bet when he leaves that it will never happen again.Swifty wrote: What's changed? There has been a clear statement this time that we have a lot to spend and will break our salary structure however, as things stand, Wenger appears incapable of presenting the club as an A list destination for A list players. When we moved to The Emirates I did honestly feel it was necessary and that if we could muddle through for a few years we'd become a financial dynamo with the world our Oyster - that time is now but with Wenger we can't take advantage. He obviously doesn't have the nouse, influence, connections nor personality that results in players wanting to play for him.

But what does that show? It shows that motivation is essential but not enough. You also need consistency in your motivation and that is what we try to test in players as well.
For me that is a very underrated quality. I could have said: 'Right, I can't find my way back to the hotel, so let's see if I can find a taxi.' But because I'm a sportsman, I decided not to get a taxi and that I would find my way back, no matter how long it would take me, so I continued to run.
