When they sell Bale they lose that one player who won them games single handedly. They can have all the money in the world but they won't be able to get a player like that to join them.

Spurs combined income for Bale and Modric = c. £120m

Arsenal combined income for Van Persie, Fabregas & Nasri = less than £80m

Glad we've upped the commercial department wage bill by more than £2m a year to extract best value for money

At least the Spuds put up a fight and tie their best players to long contracts. We let ours run down to the last 12 months or allow ourselves to be fucked over because the player wants to join 'his boyhood club'

Fucking clueless

I get your general point, but that comparison above is always going to be skewed when one of them is possibly about to become the most expensive player in history.

Modric went for a normal amount.

It still grinds on me that they got the same sort of fee for Modric that we did for Fabregas.

Lets also remember how Darren Bent went for a higher transfer fee than Henry back in 2007

The most recent genius deals we did were selling those couple of wankers Adebayor and Toure for far more than they were worth but that was back in the day when City were buying anyone to move them up from being also rans. The combined sales of RvP, Nasri and Fabregas for only around £80m is nothing short of pathetic

Song for £16m to Barca wasn't bad

RVP and Nasri were in the last year of their contracts, so weren't going to fetch as much, but United should have paid more of a premium to sign our captain when he was in the form of his life. Dreadful decision.

Also, not sure why we gave Barca Fabregas on the cheap :? I think Cesc still had 3 years left on his contract.

But that isn't a defence....if anything its a fucking crime to continue to make the same mistake. Flamini, RvP, Nasri....fuck me, its embarrassing. Cesc for somewhere between £27m and £32m depending on who you believe was pathetic - worse deal than Van Persie. One of the best midfielders in world football, early 20s, long term deal and we still allowed ourselves to be fucked over. Shocking

Agreed, we don't seem to learn our lessons, whether it be contracts, transfer fees, on field tactics or failing to sign players for the required positions.

I've been watching ssn this morning and obviously they have shown a lot of bale on it, I have to say that considering the attention he has had in the last year or so and this world record bid for him he does seem a very grounded nice guy

I do mean that as well, even when posing for pics etc he doesn't large it like ronaldo for example does, he gives time for pics with fans wherever he is.

I hope that if he does go to madrid that he eventually eclipses ronaldo.....

Tin Hat on

I think Bale is worth £65m max. If he is worth £85m, Messi is worth £130m. Anyway Daily Mail have done the Photoshop so the move must be on:

If Bale does leave, El Clasico will be tasty. Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar, Bale... I feel sorry for the defenders

Especially if they need to use that 80m to fund their new swamp

Yup, he does seem a grounded young man... but then again, he insists on doing that annoying heart celebration whenever he scores for the scum, so grounded or not, until he fucks of out of their he's on my list of mortal enemies. :|

Absolute max. I'd say 45-50m is more realistic.

He's a devastating player, capable of single handedly winning you points but there are a number of players with fairly similar passing, goals, assists stats including unbelievably, Walcott. He is also pretty injury prone, seems to do his hamstrings several times each season.

And as has been mentioned, he's certainly not worth 85m to Real. Perhaps to another team without a real star or game changer then yes, but not to a team that already has Ronaldo, Ozil, Di Maria etc.

I agree with the £50m but after Cavani (26) went for £55m and Falcao (27 or 29 ( )) went for £51m, I can understand why Bale (a 24-year-old) might be valued at £65m.

If Bale does go for £85m, Cesc's departure for £35m will hurt even more.
