Re: SUMMER TRANSFERS - Deals, Rumours and Buy/Sell Wish List
I don't think that any one player would make as big an impact as signing a top striker. The difference between van Judas and Giroud was absolutely massive - the former scored bags of goals in a shite team whereas the latter bumbled around in a far more creative team with Podolski, Wilshere and Cazorla. I don't see signing a DM or a defender changing Wenger's whole outlook on defending, and let's face it it's tactics as much as personnel that's let us down defensively down the years.Bendtners Drinking Buddy wrote:We both agree there. You can say "bizzare games" but we still had to score the goals, no? They still count! Moreover, the support around him on the flanks (Walcott / Podolski / Ramsey) was awful at times, a Striker is sometimes only as good as the service.
I agree that Giroud is not World-class, Suarez is, but thats not what is stopping us from winning trophies right now - Suraez would be a luxury buy - we need to sort the fundamentals out first, because without that we will continue to be also-rans.
I do think we looked toothless for much of the season though. Again, you may disagree.
Also, you say Giroud is a 4-4-2 man (hinting that he's not suited to our system) yet you say you're happy to go into the season with Giroud? (resumably knowing full well he'll be used as a lone srtiker again..?)
I should add... I do like Giroud. I'm just not convinced he's the lone striker we need to fire us to glory.

because alongside RVP those signing would have been a big big help, but with losing RVP it left a massive holekiwomya wrote:I don't remember too many people moaning last summer after we signed Giroud, Podolski and Cazorla.TeeCee wrote:That's because we always sell better players first!! Not going to jump on the Giroud Band wagon yes the gulf between JVP and Giroud is massive but he was here 9 years think Giroud has done ok in his first season not his thought he been thrown into the first team straight away and scored a few in the process JVP had some good players to learn from Giroud has none .northbank123 wrote:I don't think that any one player would make as big an impact as signing a top striker. Re: SUMMER TRANSFERS - Deals, Rumours and Buy/Sell Wish List
Of course. In which case, it'll be a piece of piss to find although when live on major channels (sky, BT, ESPN, etc.) I tend to find higher quality streams are available.markyp wrote:cheers, must be on streaming tho??g88ner wrote:Saturday, 3pm. Now Miquel has gone on loan to Leicester now only 2 fit CB can please someone tell me what is going on

It's good news, mate!swimmer1 wrote:Now Miquel has gone on loan to Leicester now only 2 fit CB can please someone tell me what is going on

The only alternative is Wenger genuinely sees Sagna at a 4th choice centre back and intends to sign a RB instead, although that seems unlikely to me.
Re: SUMMER TRANSFERS - Deals, Rumours and Buy/Sell Wish List
Lets hope so seen many times before and end up with nothing can we just buy then put people on loan or to sell like most teams .g88ner wrote:It's good news, mate!swimmer1 wrote:Now Miquel has gone on loan to Leicester now only 2 fit CB can please someone tell me what is going onWe're clearly signing a centre back - what else could be going on?

Good news about Miquel going though - I thought that would happen after he didn't start either Emirates Cup game. We're definitely signing a defender now

Jenkinson and Yennaris to be the right backs, Bellerin to push for a Carling Cup place.
Re: SUMMER TRANSFERS - Deals, Rumours and Buy/Sell Wish List
I'm certain. There's now way Wenger would lose Squillaci, and loan out Djourou/Miquel without bringing in someone else... probablyswimmer1 wrote:Lets hope so seen many times before and end up with nothingg88ner wrote:It's good news, mate!swimmer1 wrote:Now Miquel has gone on loan to Leicester now only 2 fit CB can please someone tell me what is going onWe're clearly signing a centre back - what else could be going on?

The only worry I have is that we'll sign a 4th choice squad player when what I'd love to see is a defender to forge a lasting partnership with Koscienly. A defender who doesn't have the turning circle and agility of the QE2 and doesn't have brain farts like Vermaelen. You know, someone DEPENDABLE!
Re: SUMMER TRANSFERS - Deals, Rumours and Buy/Sell Wish List
Oh, bollocks... so there is an "internal solution"QuartzGooner wrote:

(still think we'll make an underwhelming defensive signing though
