Turning points

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I'm wondering if the coming September 2nd might be a turning point. What if we get knocked out of the CL in the qualifier? We could be up against some decent teams. We struggle in our first few games and lose to the scum at home September 1st. Cue booing and general anti Wenger/board chanting. AW hasn't signed anyone because he was waiting for CL qualification so we have 24 hours to strengthen the team or face a mid table season with the thinnest squad on record.

All the selling clubs know we are desperate and hold out for ridiculous fees including £50m for Suarez......

I'm wondering how long AW would last after such a scenario.

Can anyone else here remember a positive turning point in the 69-70 season? Goals and points were hard to come by, then out of the blue a John Radford hatrick inspired us to a 5-1 away win at Palace. A week later a 4-o destruction of a good Derby side and our season turned around. The Fairs Cup followed, ending an 17 year trophyless spell, and a year later our first double.
Not relevant to our current plight I know, but thought Id share it anyway.
Regards
Jon

The turning point in the last 5 or 6 years for me has been Wengers lack of confidence in his own signings during the period - if he had some faith then we could have seen this squad dominate:

Almunia
Silvestre Senderos Squillaci Santos (note there is no S in defence)
Arshavin Denilson Vela Gervihno
Bendtner Chamahk

Bench
Park Jenkinson Reyes Cygan

Turning point was when wenger became so powerful and absolute that he started to behave like Louis XIV. I still think this is all a big behavioral experiment on collective stockholm syndrome. You know, to see how long the captees stop looking after the captor once the syndrom is in place.

D'yall know when I turned?

It was after one hard bitten yet predictable defeat to the Mackems and the lads hit the showers.

I know we all like to rib DB10 bout his brittle body, but I can still see the mechanical mess of wires, lube and rusteeze that went into keeping that sum bitch upright.

I'd have fucked it then, I'd fuck it now.

For me by far 2008 Birmingham game.

I honestly think even up to now we have ever found our groove back. Don't think I've seen a single game since where we've played better than before it.

I think every player was scarred by it and it was the fault of that ref who gave a non existant penalty against Clichy and that idiot Gallas who sat at the other end.

The two points hurt us but Eduardo's injury was what killed us (especially the nature of it) with Adebayor going right off the boil and van Judas on the sidelines too.

it's all my fault. Was the day I got married.
(I thought we'd be in the Carling Cup Final so wouldn't play that day)
