Wilshere would consider Arsenal future if Arsene Wenger left

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I think that's ridiculously OTT, mate.

So what if Jack is throwing his support behind the manager? - it may be a little ill-advised and foolish, but the lad is 21 and hardly seems the sharpest knife in the draw, so I wouldn't take too much notice. Previous quotes have shown his commitment and passion to Arsenal, so there's quotes to suit everyone.

It also wouldn't surprise me if we read a quote in the next few weeks saying he's Arsenal through and through and wants to spend his career here.

Either way, I can't say I'm too bothered. It's all water off a ducks backs - most players will only stay at a club for as long their ambitions are being matched.

Ignore it... and ffs, certainly don't kick him out the club! :? - we're not at that stage yet, surely? :o massive over reaction!

As a rule I am normally sceptical of these media stories (hence my IF) but to me that reads like a guy who is slapping down the opinions of the fans who pay his wages. If he came out and defended the manager by throwing out the usual soundbites about the players all being behind the manager etc then that would be acceptable to me BUT he has basically sent a warning out to the fans that if they try and hound wenker out then he will walk out too and that is unacceptable imo :x Does he think that his importance is such that we should tolerate an under performing outdated manager just so that we wont lose jack ?
Personally I find the whole "lack of intelligence" excuse a bit of a cop out - if it was the heat of the moment interview post game in the tunnel then fair enough but under any other circumstances it is a calculated response imo and unacceptable. Would we accept that type of remark from any other player ? Should we accept that type of comment from any player ? There are a load of pitch smart but book stupid players who wouldn't make that type of threat to their supporters

He wants to concentrate on staying fit for a few seasons and proving he is worth keeping hold of rather than trying to dictate terms on which he will stay.....loyalty to your manager is one thing - issuing veiled threats to fans is another....

Tbh, I don't listen to a word that footballers come out with. Mindless soundbites & cliches.

We've been told for years that all the marquee players we've had would all leave if Wenger was sacked/resigned. Where are they all now. :rubchin:

Most players would play for a team managed by Willy Wonka if offered enough money.

Fair points....I just wish they would think a bit before opening their mouths and making their demands/threats/inane comments .I do think Jack's comments make it look like he has a seriously inflated opinion of himself and also not much respect for the fans.

Well said. And take your medals with you (er how many? The same number that I've got).

My usual Saturday night bitterness is alive and kicking. Saw Hendon lose away at Enfield today. Tonight's wine of choice is some Romanian white that Waitrose were knocking out in their £10 meal deal. Not bad and quite strong.
The world of non league football isn't all rosy. Today I had the worst burger since Everton away 1976.

Regards
Jon (Arsenal fan in self imposed exile)

Be gentle...!

It's a step up from the usual 'he's the gaffer, we're all behind him', it's nailing his colours to the Wenger post more than I like. He's a young guy, he was bought up used to us winning stuff under Wenger, I can understand it to a certain extent.

If he is being clever, he is preparing a way out for himself. He can see Wenger is history, and what follows the exit will probably be a period of turmoil, just when he is (hopefully) getting to his best as a player. Will he want to waste a couple more years whilst we get ourselves sorted out?

When Wenger finally 'retires', I think it will trigger him to be off, reckon he will be in Manchester in a couple of years from now.

I don't buy this "Jack is one of ours" nonsense. Yes, he's been with us since he was young but he's a West Ham fan and I don't doubt for two seconds that he'd be off if he was offer more money & a better chance of silverware elsewhere.

I consider Jenkinson to be more "one of ours" than Jack...

I'll take that personally as your post immediately follows mine.
I've been a paying customer at Arsenal since 1966, spent way too much of my hard earned over the years. Seen great things and seen much more shit besides.
13 years and counting for a trophy when I signed up, eventually took 17 years.
To suggest these comments are a wind up is totally failing to grasp what I believe Arsenile Wenger is doing to my club.
There's thick and thin, and there's now.
And when a borderline sick note like Jack pipes up in praise of Wenger I just think fuck off to Manure now, save us all the pantomine when his contract has a year left.
