Weekend's other games

I don't either. As I told babaghanou, walcotts stats were better in 2012 and 2013.

Yes, but weren't Theo's goals/assists stats much better than Bale's last season as well? :? - In fact, I'm fairly sure that even over the last 3 years, Theo's goals/assists record is better than Bale's.

Does that mean I'm suggesting Theo is better than Bale? - erm... no

In any case, Mata and Theo are very different type of players. Not sure stats are all that helpful sometimes.

But Walcott and Mata are two different types of players. Mata is a playmaker whilst Theo is a borderline striker. You can't compare them.

By the way I like both players.

In 2012 they both played wide right, so it was a direct comparison. But in 13 mata played in the hole and wally played in the centre, I agree.

I still don't think he would have been a great signing for us at 30m

But their roles are still different. Iniesta plays on the left for Spain but you couldn't compare him with other players who play on the left, players like Podolski and Ronaldo for example.

I watched the Villa v Newcastle game in a social club in Gateshead. To be fair it was actually a decent game, Newcastle played some good stuff and there was a cracking atmosphere in there - actually got really engaged in the game.

I got an insight into how miserable football could really be today by having a beer with my brother-in-law who is a Reading fan and watching their 0-0 draw at home to Brighton......which they were lucky to get. 90 mins of desperate stuff
