We should be going for top drawer not Jermaine fucking Defoe.

Defoe is a goal scorer no doubt about That, but we should look for someone younger and top, top class. Higgy would have been ideal, and I for one would still take Suarez.

Yeah and we should have signed cesar but instead we signed a keeper on loan from a 2nd division italian team and that is the arsehole wenker way  You keep clinging to the hope that ozil is going to be the signal of things to come and while I do understand your need to cling to that hope, I will also say that it is as if the last few seasons transfer windows never happened  If we had of signed ozil on day 1 of the last transfer window and then followed that up with freebie moves for sonogo, vivian and flamoney, would anybody be confident that we were going to go forward with improved ambition in the transfer market ? Simply put, the money was there all summer long and yet he signed ONE quality player and that was in the last few minutes of the window (I know ozil wasnt available before then but lots of other quality players were).

Re defoe, I will say that he is the type of pacy natural goalscorer that we have lacked for a long time now and his age wouldnt deter me from signing him - what would deter me from signing him is his injury record and the belief that he is too ingrained in that club to ever be a success with us. There are a few scummer players that I would have no problem with us signing but defoe is there a long time and has a very good relationship with the knuckle draggers that populate that place and I am not sure that we could have knock that out of him

I posted ther link (About Defoe) because seeing as we have no one if Giroud gets crocked, he is a natural finisher - and regardless of his playing for the scum - as did Sol Campbell...He is a very decent striker...Had he been given more playing time at the toilet he would have a very decent score/goal rate. That's all....But I agree we Should be looking to buy a Top, Top Quality striker...But remember this is Tight Wad Wenger we're talking about here! (And just because he has spent £42mill on one player doesn't automatically make him a free spending manager.

Talking of strikers:

Arsenal and West Ham target Ciprian Marica, 27, is close to revealing the identity of his next club after the former Schalke striker, who is a free agent, confirmed he is in negotiations with three teams.
Full story: Daily Star

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and West Ham boss Sam Allardyce are both keen to add to their forward options and have identified the Romanian international as a key target.
A free agent since leaving German club Schalke at the end of last season, Marica confirmed he was closing in on his next move.
"I am in negotiations with three teams," he said.“

Never heard of him, also he's on a freebie so sounds right up AW's avenue!. :|

If Defoe isn't good enough for Spurs why would he be for us? I honestly don't understand it. Spurs fans moaned for years about strikers and he's had loads of chances to be a starter for them but he's never ever been consistent enough. They even sold him to Pompey at one stage!

That's a slightly blinkered way of looking at things... He could of fallen out with village idiot or he may of gone stale and needs a new challenge. Look at Casillas's situation at Madrid, he cannot get his starting position back. But does that mean he is no longer a top class player?... No.
I'm not saying that we should sign Defoe, but what I am saying is that just because he is not starting for the scum does not mean he is automatically not good enough for us. :barscarf:

I'm not basing it purely on him not starting, I was just using it as an example that Spurs were desperate and still he ends up on the bench. That's under more than one manager, too.

Casillas was number one for how many years? Defoe, IMO, has never been first choice at Spurs. He's was sold on because they favoured Robbie Keane (even Darren Bent) and even when they brought him back they ended up with with Adebayor and now Soldado.

We should pay Liverpool £60m and sign Suarez as he's better than most.

I reckon we'll spend crazy money on Draxler from Schalke 04. In fact, I don't think we'll stop sepnding until we have 62 midfielders :barscarf:
