Mate, I am like you old skool, started going in the mid 80s. I am not saying that all our problems are solved, but after a very lean period in our history there does seem to be a chink of light at the end of the tunnel.Rugby Gooner wrote:Just for the record mate,I want Arsenal to win every game that they play, and first started to go and watch them in 1984! I am just not swept up in all the current euphoria, and try to stay realistic about our chances in the Premiership etc.nut flush gooner wrote:Its quite pathetic really, I am not an AKB but some people in this forum really have to take a close look at themselves.
Personally, I am enjoying this season. Why do others actually want the team to fail just to prove a point.![]()
Loads of Football fans that I know,in the local pubs, shops, taxis are all banging on about how "Great" this current team is,and how we are going to "Win everything" this year. They are getting carried away with the hype. This lunch hour I ran into the wife of an Everton fan that I know,(and she to has been going to Goodison Park for years and knows her Football). The first thing she said to me was,"You lot are doing well this seaon," closely followed by,"But Arsenal are like the Christmas decorations, they start coming down in January."
I also know a local cabbie Gooner who went to every home game in the 1971 Double Winning Season, and he is worried that we will either bottle it again,or fail to strengthen in the upcoming Transfer window, and pick up injuries to impotant players that will effect the "Run-In."
I maintain that we are only 2 or 3 injuries away from the 4th place "trophy" fight. I was also at the "Villa" game on the opening day of the Season and saw first hand how shit we were, and that wasn,t that long ago!!!
But Flamini is back, and as long as Howard Webb doesn,t Referee the game we stand a chance,
COME ON YOU GUNNERS!!!

With a lot of the dead wood shipped out of the club, and Bendtner inevitably making way this summer you sense that the current crop of players are starting to get what playing for arsenal means. Giroud a player much maligned on this forum since he joined the club in my opinion is light years ahead of Podolski who despite his injury this season cannot consider himself to be worthy of a starting place when he comes back, the same goes for Walcott.
I don't think even with injuries to key players that we will slide that badly and indeed if wenger goes out and buys 1 or 2 decent players in January who knows what may happen.
As for the everton fans wife, she doesn't know what she's talking about. In recent history our worst month has invariably been November. After christmas we have always seemed to put a run together either to win the league, or come from nowhere to pip the spuds for fourth on the last day!
