Kroenke buys LA stadium plot

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

The blokes a gazillionaire with massive resources, of which we are just a tiny proportion.
But there is plenty of evidence to say that he runs mostly 'average' franchises where he is as tight as a crab's arse. He's hoarding assets, and I just hope to god he fucks off soon

I'm not disputing that. I am replying to those saying he is using us as a way of financing other things.

Denver Nuggets - 4th in a group of 5 in the NBA Western Conference
Colorado Rapids - 5th in a league of 9 in the MLS Western Conference
Colorado Avalanche - 3rd in a group of 7 in the NHL Western Conference
Colorado Mammoth - bottom in a group of 4 in the NLL West
St Louis Rams - finished bottom in a group of 4 in the NFC West

We are truly blessed to have such a wonderful owner. But why would we want to let "Jabba" in when we've got the man to realise all our dreams eh?

FUCK OFF KROENKE

His Missus was the daughter of Sam Walton - founder of wal mart.

Patriots Owner Robert Kraft was interviewed on Boston radio yesterday - they asked him what three things the NFLis going to focus on doing - he replied 1) expanded Thursday night schedule, 2) a London franchise , 3) another LA franchise.

Kraft knows.

Oh , and wiggy is worth 4bn, so this new stadium is likely around a quarter of his worth.

Its not much of a stretch to thInk he'll mortgage his best income producing asset is it...

I've followed the NFL for many years now (I'm a Broncos fan so am currently feeling a bit gutted). It is common for club owners to threaten the move to get the local authorities to finance upgrades etc. An NFL side creates so much local revenue that they cannot usually afford to let it go elsewhere.
Having said that, it is not beyond the realms of possibility that Kroenke acquired Arsenal to give himself a foothold in London with the full knowledge that it puts him in the driving seat should a team be located here. If that is the case then it is a very shrewd move on his behalf. He'll have a venue already lined up with sufficient facilities to support an NFL Franchise.

Spurs are supposed to be planning their new stadium with an eye to having the London NFL franchise based there.

If Kroenke is hoping to beat them to it, how will he persuade Wenger to let our pitch be used for gridiron?
And will Islington Council let us use the stadium for more events?

If the scum get an nfl franchise then I'm screwed cos I doubt if I would ever stand in that shithole

yeah, he could be one of those NFL coaches like Bill Bellicheck who has no GM over him to choose, negotiate and buy players....Bellicheck despite being one of the highest paid coaches and being rated as the best in game, has not won a ring since 2005 - 9 years, sound familiar ? at all ????
I've been a patriots fan for all 24 years of my life (born and raised in Massachusetts) and the comparison between Belichick and Wenger is scary.

A. Both were lauded for the way they revolutionized the sport when they assumed their current post (Wenger with discipline/player diet and Belichick with his tactics/media approach)

B. Both achieved a great deal with the club in the first half of their tenure (which gains political points with the club and fans) but nothing since

C. Both coaches never, ever sign the best available player but rather try to reinvigorate an aging superstar or invest in young talent

D. Belichick let his best receiver walk away after not be willing to meet his salary demands. Sound familiar? (Meanwhile, that player joins the Patriots' most direct competitor and helps them beat the Patriots in the AFC championship)

E. You think Wenger likes to play mind games with the press? You have no idea what mind games are until you have a listen to Billy Boy's press conferences.

Kroenke may suck as our Owner but is a very clever asset developer and the finances of the project will not be linked to us in any way shape or form !

I wouldn't believe a word that comes out of anyone at the NFL's mouth. Watched a really good doc about concussion injuries and brain damage in American Throw Ball and the NFL are lying keeunts - allegedly!

As much as I find the 4 hours it takes to watch American Throw Ball boring as fuck, I actually really enjoy the ESPN docs about the sport and particularly Superbowl teams - they are just so interesting, well made and tell great stories. I can now watch the condensed highlights of American Throw Ball (say 30 minutes max) without puking and I put that down to those brilliant ESPN docs. 8)

Dont think that is fair tbh DB10 - those injuries were sustained at a time when awareness of concussion long term effects was next to zero. Yes they probably downplayed some of it once the litigation started but what business would do differently ? Now concussion rules are vice grip tight and 1 player was forced to retire after 2 or 3 concussions in 2 seasons.

Speaking as a huge NFL fan, I have to say that the rules on hitting now are making the game less enjoyable - yes I get the whole player safety thing and I agree with outlawing hits to the head but they have also outlawed hits below the knee and are trying to stop running backs leading with the helmet when they are trying to protect themselves. Much of the enjoyment of the game of american football was the hits and I really hope that dont water it down any more :(

I'm sure they have made improvements, but I think the point of the doc is that they did that only after they were caught. They had denied the link and hidden the facts for years. They were dishonest. There's a good article here too; http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nf ... s/2939747/
