TONIGHT'S MATCH v BAYERN MUNICH - REMINDER

REDaction have been working with Arsenal to organise a card display for the Bayern game – covering the whole stadium with red and white cards. These are not cheap to organise, but they look fantastic when they work. The success depends on people being in their seats in good time before kickoff. Make sure you are in your seat by 7:35, ready to turn the stadium red and white when the players come onto the pitch. To help make the card display look as good as it can be, REDaction are asking everybody to do three things:

Get yourself into your seat by 7:35pm.

Remind all your friends, both in person and via social media, that they need to do the same!

When you leave the pub to get to the stadium, bring as many people with you as possible

Most people say they want a fantastic atmosphere in our stadium. Here is a great opportunity to achieve exactly that – but it needs YOU. Most of the action will be around the players coming out, and during the Champions League anthem. Keep hold of your cards, and re-use it if we score – when Bayern are taking the kickoff. This has been done at grounds in Europe and South America before, but would be a first for a ground in the UK.

Hope it goes well, but with the amount of people that turn up 10 minutes late it could go a little pear shaped

At the risk of sounding like a f-cking misery, this sort of thing leaves me cold. Why are we copying this continental shite?

Okay it may look spectacular but for how long? 30 seconds? A minute at the most I’d say!

And it doesn’t look quite so spectacular if you’re in the ground as the piece of card you're being made to hold up is blocking your view.

And how exactly does it generate atmosphere? When the game starts the cards with be crumpled up on the floor and getting walked all over (a bit like the team I expect  ).

Waste of time and effort in my opinion. But not as bad as those cringe worthy clapper things that were inflicted on us a few years back.
I don't have a problem with a card display per se. But, I saw on Twittr earlier that Red Action also want the cards held up if/when we score! How in the name of God do they expect that to work? Don't celebrate, hold up a card instead :? Or celebrate, then hold them up when the game has restarted?

On a side note, how is this one allowed when M-50 tried and failed a while back?

I also think this card thing makes us look a bit small time. I understand more what we did against Man United because it was a semi-final but this game tonight isn't even a quarter final.

Its too early in the competition to warrant making such a big deal of it in my opinion. I know Bayern are the holders and probably the best side in Europe but personally I'd rather we didn't act like minnows who have been drawn against one of the big boys because we should be one of the big boys ourselves.

I'm happy about Sanogo starting too. With Giroud in his current form/mind set and Sanogo doing well on Sunday it could work out, he puts himself about more than Giroud has recently and on occassions Liverpool didn't really know how to handle him. I doubt Bayern were expecting to face Sanogo either, so....maybe a great decision by Wenger, we shall see :barscarf:

Was expecting it but still disappointed not to see Podolski start, would have brought Cazorla on later.
