Giroud's a cheat?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Please just fuck off!
Fuck off Fwank!!

There is no way you could hate any Arsenal player more than the Mong/ComedyEboue/LegoHead Triumvirate Of Evil that graced our team for so many years. I say "graced" but of course I mean "made a total cúnt of". :x :x
Please see my reply to Augie, but yes all *word censored*!! :D

If pre-match shagging is responsible for his sluggish displays he must have had a fucking orgy last night.

That first chance wasn't a sitter and actually for once he made the right run and surprisingly found the target. Unfortunately he hesitated slightly and his sluggish pace meant he had to take on the shot early, which was basically a backpass. Very little danger of him every scoring that, if it had been a cutback to him 6 yards out he might have fancied it but slotted through on goal on a gentle angle? Don't think so.

Two other moments summed up Giroud for me. The first where he picked up the ball on the halfway line, and had such little confidence in himself that he took on the shot from 50 yards. It's not the first time he's done this and needless to say it was never in danger of troubling Cech. The second in the last minute where Ivanovic massively over-committed and lunged in completely off balance, but despite Giroud poking the ball past him somehow Ivanovic still got there first.

Despite seeing little of the ball he managed to make up for it by getting even more exasperated gesticulations in than normal.

I hesitate to slate giroud on days like this because I think some fans would rather pick on easy targets like him than focus on other players. As a huge BFG fan I have to say that he was shocking for their opening goal - he neither tackled the guy coming through with the ball or went over to close eto down and in the end he was nowhere  Slating giroud for being average is a waste of time cos he basically is average although I have to say that, as a manager of our local sunday morning team, I would expect each and every one of them to have a better first touch than what he is showing

I will also say in giroud's defence. that it isn't easy being marooned up front of your own - imo all of our midfielders hid today (especially cazorla) and it was easier for them to hide in the shadows than it was for them to get forward and help the useless lump. They know that he is incapable of holding the ball up there on his own but they make no effort to get up alongside for the knockdown or 2nd ball because they would take them out of the shadows where they would be expected to do something positive.

Giroud's a cheat?

Well, based on his recent displays, he is certainly cheating the common fan who pay his wages out of their money while laughing all the way to the bank.

To be honest you could pick any players out there and highlight mistakes they made today Augie, I agree. It's not even his attitude, although this is increasingly grating - his gesticulating and complaining has gone into overdrive in the last few weeks.

It's that notwithstanding it being a very challenging role, he is so embarrassingly short of what is required. I don't buy any of this chat that he would be a good back-up or would really prosper in a better formation. At the very top level he's an oaf. He can stand 6 yards out and slam home cut-backs at home to sides lower down the table but basically every big game without exception he proves just how far out of his depth he is.

I do think he is a decent second choice striker, playing a role that requires him to be back to the goal and a pivot for others to run off.
17 goals so far is respectable.
But we need that top fast striker or else no title.

Have to admit to calling him a lazy :cussing: :censored: when that happened. He was completely favourite for the ball yet fat ar**d Ivanovic got to it before him with time to spare. :banghead: :banghead:

I'll have a look. :-P

I think the point is not missing the sir alex hugging van judas, but replacing a quality player with erm a player of the 'lesser qualities' and thinking we can get away with it.

Welcome to the last decade of Wenger's Arsenal.
