The Summer 2014 TRANSFER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Ah a transfer window thread, does it inspire thoughts of a world class striker, a dominant midfielder, or a defensive lynch pin? Nope, but it does give us the trouser stirring delights of Natalie Sawer's massive mammeries :barscarf:

Rumours are that Manure have bid for Shaw and Liverpool have bid for Lallana. Surely this breaking the rules as the window doesn't open until after the world cup? :rubchin:

Also, why haven't they just looked at the internal market...? What idiots! :rubchin:

There is certainly a lot of mileage in that market. Some guy called Diaby for starters, and can we rule out pulling of the massive coup of signing a new keeper called Fabianski? :barscarf:

Shall we also not refer at Ian Huntley's previous conviction because he claims to be a totally changed man?

:?

Extreme example I know (law student habit, sorry) but of course you have to look at previous because what happens sets precedent. Look at Gervinho, good reputation when he came(all be it older than Vela), didn't make it at Arsenal and now doing rather well for Roma - do I want him back? No.

The English league doesn't suit some players and Vela is one of them players.
Vela was 21 when he left us! You mention Gervinho but let me give you Matic who left Chelsea at a similar age as Vela, proved himself in a worse league than the La Liga and went back to Chelsea a mature player and now he's dominating the midfield for them.

What if Vela goes to Citeh or Chelsea (he has a 25m release clause) and becomes a superstar for them? We're gonna look like mugs.
Matic played far less for Chelsea in his first spell than Vela did for Arsenal. Magic's departure was a combination of having better players and the player needing to play. Vela had his chance and it didn't go well.

What if he came back and he reproduced the same level of performances which we saw in his first spell? We will also look like mugs.

There are bigger and better strikers attainable, we need to look higher than Vela.

So this makes true what we've always thought Lothar Mathaus is a tosser.

We need 5 signings

1. Back up goalie, decent money options Marshall(Cardiff),Speroni,....we'll go for the cheap silly option,Schmeichel's kid who is on a free

2.Back up CB Caulker(Cardiff),Lescott(Shitty),, the cheapest option is probably Hangeland(Fulham)

3.Defensive CM Schneiderln(Saints),Bender(Leverkusen),Barry(Shitty),Tiote,(he's French and Ashley will aways listen to offers),Alonso(Madrid)

4 & 5 Two strikers, Giroud back up + 1 more. The options for this are plentiful with our money but with ou tight fisted mentality, it boils down to us getting Remy(not much different to Giroud if you ask me) and Campbell or Vela coming back up.

There is a 6th most important signing to be made this summer by the board, let's hope that happens as no new signings or old signings will make a blind bit of difference.
