Re: where was walcott yesterday?
Sorry to hear about your son Augie, hope he gets fully recovered soon.
Walcott's son was in hospital the day of the Cup Final, sounds serious enough to me.

Augie in "lets criticise Theo even when his son's ill" shocker
You like him about as much as I love that roll-neck wearing clown that 1989 wants us to re-sign don't you mate?

Thanks quartz - my kids operation wasn't a serious one or anything and I only brought it up to point out the importance I place on a player supporting his team-mates when he is injured.
Steve O, my feelings towards wally has weakened somewhat (though my objections were mainly down to the 100k per week) but if I'm honest that might be due to his gesture to the scum fans in the fa cup game

That's good to hear Augie, nevertheless must have been a difficult experience.
Having met Theo a few times I got the sense he is desperate to win things with us, and would not have readily stayed away from a Cup Final on a flimsy pretence, he is one of the most popular members of he squad and thinking about it, once Djourou goes it will be Theo and Diaby who are the longest serving players.

Hamburg and Bayern are the only teams never to be relegated from the Bundesliga in its 50+ year history. Djourou joins them on loan and they are forced into a relegation play-off which they scraped through on away goals after a blinder from their stand-in keeper.
They've signed the fucker permanently too

Ok so his son was ill in hospital thats why he wasnt there sat, and according to theos interview on the bus his son made a good recovery sat night so that why theo was on the bus, fair enough i suppose.
ANYWAY, what is the deal with medals? Surely them who only played in the final arent just the only ones to get one?
EDIT a quick google sort of gets me the answer, dunno if the medals go as far as zelalem but even szczeney got one

And I'm not having a pop at Chesney. I'm delighted he got a medal and that prick from the Mail rag is a petty bitter sounding arsehole for calling him out on it. It is totally different to Full Kit Wánker Chav Terry. Chesney was part of the team, could have been called onto the pitch at any moment.
I note they have reduced the requirement for a PL medal down from 10 games to 5 games. I think that's good. Again what if a player scores the winners in say the last 6 games that ultimately win you the league? Should he not get a medal? I think they should go further and give a PL medal to every player that has gotten on the pitch during the season.

But hey - I'm just a nice fucker!

Re: where was walcott yesterday?
I think it's all the players and the subs on the bench on the day get a medal. I think you can make a special case to the FA if a player that would have played gets injured just before the final and misses the final. I know we did that with Wrighty and UEFA in 94 to get him a medal even though he was suspended rather than injured. Not 100% sure if the FA would do it though...leono1 wrote: ANYWAY, what is the deal with medals? Surely them who only played in the final arent just the only ones to get one?

Re: where was walcott yesterday?
If thats true then if I was alex oxo id be gutted not to recieve a medal, after scoring one and setting one up against Liverpool, and theo for his ccontribution against spurs. Like someones said above I think you should get one even if you have only played 1 second in any match or being named in any squad for any cup game.DB10GOONER wrote:I think it's all the players and the subs on the bench on the day get a medal. Re: where was walcott yesterday?
DB10 I think the 10 games rule in the PL is more than fair. As it is if they have a bit of breathing space teams can give players trivial substitute appearances (as we did in 2002 and 2004) to meet the criteria, if it's reduced to 5 in an uncompetitive league season you could have 30+ players qualifying with a few sub appearances in late dead rubbers.
Secondly, the PL are more than fair with their special dispensation. Pique and Smith were granted it when they played 9 games. Larsson and Dublin after 7. Kuzszcak 3 times even though the latter two he only played 4 and 5 times respectively. Manninger in 97/98, which was obviously fair enough as he put in some massive performances for us in huge games.
I think the FA are quite lenient too - pretty sure Pires got given one in 2002 even though as I recall his injury occurred during the quarter-final replay against Newcastle? But I draw the line at those playing once in the earlier rounds getting one. I fully appreciate that somebody who has scored a winner or two early on in the competition has made a far bigger contribution than somebody whose only appearance is an unused sub at the final, but you have to draw the line somewhere otherwise you'll be giving them out like there's no tomorrow.

In 1998 Alex Manninger rightly got a championship medal even though he only played 7 games

Diaby should get a medal for getting out of bed in the morning without falling over.
